So.. i am about to build/buy my first remote truck..i wanted something that can be used nearly everywhere, i found a dealer a few km´s away from me who sells these babys. What do you think? They have a 24 volts supply with LOTS of a/h 6x6 air cooled engine.I have a bit of gear already..it would need a bit of painting and small adjustents but these things are in a very good shape 47000 km´s on the clock.Opinions? Price is around 8 k€.Pinzgauer

The ambulance idea is good, since they normally have lots of doors and connectors on the outside. You'd just have to replace them with multipins (or BNCs if you're going the MADI route). I've been daydreaming about converting a used ambulance a few times. Just not sure about the military version which might be more rugged, but also more noisy when driving. I'm not sure if I'd like to record music after some hours of driving what might be nearly as loud as a tank.

Oh they have never been in rought terrain..thats the good side of a san. Pinzgauer..they are loud..take lots of gas but they are dirt cheap in insurance and tax per year. Also the offroad capacities are more than good..the shelter(med cabine) is made out of gfk with a LOT of permanet holes for cables etc. This little door holds the spare tire on a small crane which can be replaced by a voltage regulator+ Maschineroom for a pc/mac.A small generator can be placed in one of these boxes with exaust etc.I want to make an offroad recording mobile..and i found a complete a/v station with satelite support made out of a short version of these. | |

I think it's great! Have you gotten inside it, and done some CAD drawings for a control room? Go for it. Why not?? |

My plan is for either an ambulance (not military though) or a "special" school bus. I think you will be happy with the interior of whatever you decide on. That vehicle is not right for me, but if you think it runs well and does what you need it to do (apparently go off-road) then go for it.

Hehe, I'm going to subscribe right now, just in case you convert this to a "building my remote" thread ![]() ![]() Did you already made some sort of floorplan? As it doesn't seems like a lot of space inside...

Running on gas too lately, I love it! Very nice to get 40 liters for less than 20 euros, the fuel prices are ridiculous here in Holland, I think half of the American population would get a heart attack if they would suddenly have the same prices... Gas rocks! |

I have toyed (not too seriously) with the idea of using a Unimog radio truck myself. My cousin has a pinz too. Fun trucks. Be sure to keep us updated on the progress of this thing.
