I believe it was suggested recently, but a live sound forum here would be really cool. maybe jules would think about adding something? heck, we've got a whole section just for rap/hip hop, and i know a lot of people here make money in live sound as well.

this really is the best audio forum, and live gear can be slutty too!

I always regarded the remote possibilities as the Gearslutz-live-channel - there are very knowledgeable people around.

... they have some phantastic stories over there at roadie net...let's keep the rigging and lights to the roadies ;-)

People have been posting a lot HERE, where the cool people troll

The other forum I deal with a lot is the theatre-sound listserve, which is largely (as the name implies) theatre- all LIVE sound, but few of the bad seed types. That's a great place to discuss Cadac, Digital consoles, Sennheisser RF, intercom, and infrared video to name a few topics.

Hope this helps!

Another Usenet group is alt.audio.pro.live-sound. I was a member there for several years, but between the flame wars and the repetitive beginner questions I decided to bolt. Not that I have anything against beginners, but once a week was the "sm58 alternative" discussion and the topics never got much more interesting. I also learned a lot in the early years from people there, so don't think I'm bashing that group. If you're looking for a dedicated live sound group then that's definitely one, and you should make up your own mind about the quality of it.

At the moment, this is the perfect place to address "live sound."
We have been discussing this for years and could ramp it up if folks want to talk about it.

Remotesters and FOH/MON engineers deal with each other everyday of the week.
A while ago, I also added tags like "live sound," "live Show," 'FOH," "MON," and such to help facilitate this need.

I can dig that.

We discuss "live sound" here with positive results.

Click on a applicable tags and away you go...

The live channel lives within the Remote Possibilities Forum everyday.
