| Acoustic guitar recording advice? Hi my friend has asked me to record him playing and singing sone old Irish songs on his acoustic guitar. This will be my first time recording an acoustic guitar. So i was wondering whats the best process for doing it? The mic's i have available are: SM57, PG81 (if it arrives in time) and some others that won't really suite or i dont have cables for. My set up currently only allows 1 channel recording at a time so im limited to just one mic. (the PG81 will be best yeah?) What about mic placement, what will be best to get the old Irish song sound? (like the dubliners and pogues etc) Will it be best to suggest using a click to help keep him in time, as i'll have to record the vocals seperatley? Any tips for the mixing process to get the best sound? It will only be the guitar and his vocals no other instruments. Would it help much, with what i have available, if i was able to record more tracks at once? Any other advice would be appreciated. thanks |
