Funny you mention that, because my mobile rig is being built specifically to support audio and video streaming to the net. I've got 40-tracks of audio and 6-channels of video over a satellite connection from the truck.

On the topic of streaming from GS .... my streams are by way of my membership in tapers.org, which comes with a shoutcast account to their streaming server. It will support up to 500 128k connections, so it's come in very handy mor than once.

I don't know anything about GS's hosting arrangement, but I can't imagine that setting up a shoutcast server for GS peeps would be difficult. I run one out of my house as well on Verizon FIOS service (2mbs up). If GS wants to check it for its site out I'd be down with helping out anyway that's needed.

All the best to you folks!
Yeah I've been thinking about it for two years (which was part of the reason I joined GS in the first place) and finally made some moves to make it happen.

I'll post some stuff down the road when I've got something worth showing ;)

you would have to talk Steve into, talking to Jules, into the streaming deal
as I am just a local GS fly on the wall

Indeed, it sounds like a supper duper great Idea to me
it would definitely take this board up a notch

I've nabbed a 24-foot RV on a 93 Chevy body with ridiculously low original miles on it. I've begun the same thing you're doing to yours - carving out work areas and mapping the floorplan. I have a ways to go before I catch up.

Keep up the good work!

Hey George!

No sweat. Congratulations on the new vehicle. Definately time for a thread of your build.

Hey Steve, :D

Didn't see the post!

Your shop really perked me up a lot. The whole modular thing... No new piccies yet.. I am working on it all weekend building the last big closet/cabinet for storage of personal belongings. I made a mock-up a couple weeks ago out of fur wood and now have to dupe it to the oak.

Funny the thing isn't done yet and I was requested to record 2 stages simultaneously in a couple weeks. The heat is on! Not sure how I am going to handle it yet. One's a old school improv DJ and other is full band. I meet with the organizer on Sunday to talk specifics and I have to meet who ever is doing sound the for splits.

Still need some kind of splitter snake. Wrapping my head around the I/O. The thing is I run all pre-amps, no board, but may have to pick one up for the night from a colleague. ..

My wheels are spinning for sure! I am very thankful you showed me your bat cave. Can't wait to see Elroy to hit the asphalt.

Very cool ThomaI love the fact that you did a dry run before you hit the oak -- very strong my man, very strong indeed.

Hey, I got you back if you need any ancillary equipment and such...

As you know I have many snakes, cables, splitters, et cetera, etc., so keep me posted if necessary.

And, I really mean it!

Hey Steve,

I appreciate that a lot. I will keep you posted on things. Trying to cram in a day of work after I clean out my work van and do a proposal...

How come everything gets in the way of this project

Thanks again!

That sounds like the story of my life.

But, as long as you have your (trusty) map in hand and follow the course, everything will be just fine!

High school seemed like such a blur
I didn't have much interest in sports or school elections
And in class I dreamed all day
About a rock 'n' roll weekend
And the girl in the front of the room
So close yet so far
Y'know she never seemed to notice
That this silly school-boy crush wasn't just pretend

Chorus:
Life goes by so fast
You only want to do what you think is right
Close your eyes and then it's past;
(it's the) story of my life

And I went down to my old neighborhood (Fulllerton)
The faces have all changed, there's no one left to talk to
And the pool hall I loved as a kid is now a seven eleven

I went downtown to look for a job
I had no training, no experience to speak of
I looked at the holes in my jeans and turned and headed back

Chorus

Good times come and good times go
I only wish the good times would last a little longer
I think about the good times we had and why they had to end

So I sit at the edge of my bed
I strum my guitar and I sing an outlaw love song
Wonderin' bout what you're doin' now and when you're comin' back

Chorus

Tom,

Does your Vixen 21 have the BMW Turbo Diesel engine in it?

Hi Steve,

No, It has a gm gas. I considered the diesel, but the engine takes up the entire rear of the viehicle under deck and there was no space for a generator. I also considered parts sources. The GM parts are cheaper and easier to get and it is a 1989 coach. The unleaded fuel ones came stock with a generator too and this coach in particular had a rebuilt onan micrloite with high output coils among numerous mechanical upgrades. It seemed like the right buy.

Thanks, Steve!

Kind of fits my personality my girlfriend says.

Been so nuts lately and I have a few moments to take a breath.

In Elroy, the patch panels and cabling you have run, are they all interconnected or do you have to patch the i/o together through a patchbay?

Reason I am asking is, looking at Jethro, the reels in the back seem very convient. I am considering doing something similar to that in the rear storage of my RV so I can just wheel out the cable to where I need it, have elcos to plug onto a splitter box for the stage/venue/ bathroom/etc and for my personal recording while I am sitting inside the RV, be able to plug into an xly patchbay.

After visiting you I got some wiring ideas, and I'm trying to finalise the wiring before I finish up the cabinetry in case I have to rout around/through them.

Cheers!

Well, spring has arrived. A few female set-backs force me to keep females at bay as I return to the final stages of my RV home studio. Yesterday I finally got around to resuming cabinet construction and built the last big face that will hold a true-sine power vertor, refigerator (bottom) and top will be a storage/wardrobe closet. The face will have no solid panel so to pass the sound through the clothes for absorption. Basically, the face will be upholstered from the inside with fabric then chicken wire over the fabric to give it some strength in case someone decides to lean on it.

Cheers,

Tom
