| Hey guys. On Monday, I have the opportunity to record a pair of talented dobro players. They will be singing and playing in the same room. My gameplan is described below...any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. --- The singers will face eachother, roughly 10 feet apart, with low baffing in order to preserve a good line of sight. Neumann km184s will serve as dual-mono mics for the dobros...these will probably be run through my UREI/JBL mic pres...which impart a warm musical vibe, hoping to shave the 'edge' off of the km184s...probably positioned near the f-holes for more bass/less squawk. I also considered moving the artists closer together, and using my AEA r84 to capture both of their vocals at once, figure 8 style. If I decide against this approach, I will probably be using AKG 414s through API 312s. Also at my disposal... sm57s audix i5s rode k2 shure green bullet Any comments folks? |

| I moved this thread to the acoustic music forum for a bit more thread mileage. In any event, I like your approach. How did your recording come out? Any photos?

| I do a lot of dobro and National recording and think you're right on with your approach. I'm also curious how it ended up sounding. Was it a good session? |
