Thread Starter | Nagra V ---> 96 khz max sample rate convs. Sounddevices 722 ---> 192 khz max sample rate convs. Do someone has both? I'm planning to buy one of them, for doing field-recording, effects, random noises, but also treated and no-treated rooms live pianos.. so pre's are important.. I know pres on 722 are transformerless, but people seems to have very good opinions about.. how about pres on Nagra V? About D/A convs, from the specs it seems to me that they are not so different.. Do someone has more.. real.. clues/facts? Thanks! |

| Is price an issue?
First, I think you will get more responses if you posted this in the Remote forum rather than here ... having said that, seriously there is a Big price difference between the V and the 722. I have both the 722 and the 744 which are both very robust, reliable machines with great sound and a minimum of fuss. My friend in Dallas has several Nagras - including the V and the DII - and after borrowing my 744 for a few days has gotten himself one and as far as I know is now using this machine on the road rather than the V. He tells me that the sound is comparable and the four tracks are useful in a pinch. Just a data point that you may find useful. Baithak |
