| I'm familiar with shorting the tip and ring for tapping inserts, but would there be any ill effects on consoles with balanced insert points. I will be using a Soundcraft MH3 that has separate TRS jacks for the sends and returns. Will my shorted TR snake work the same as it would on an unbalanced TRS insert point? |

| Balanced insert points have a jack for Send, and another one for Return. Shorting T-R in this case equals to adding Hot and Cold, so they will null out - no signal left.

| That makes sense. Not the answer I was hoping for, but at least now I know. :) I may have to have two snakes, one with tip and ring shorted, and one straight wired. That way I'll be ready for whatever comes my way. |
