Exclamation How about a Spring 2007 Remotester's Luncheon in NYC?

Steve, I'd like to propose a dinner (luncheon) for Gearslut remotesters this spring.

Edit: (DATE SUGGESTED: MONDAY APRIL 23, 2007 at 3:45PM !!!- Please reply/RSVP/sign up!)
3:45pm is the latest Lugers will accommodate a group of this size before 9pm. We need time to socialize and want to go waddle over to Steve's field shop (which is VERY cool!) afterwards, for more show & tell.
So. 3:45pm? Takers? SIGN UP!!! (end edit, 3-9-07)

----------------
I did not make the last "Gearslutz NYC" chapter meeting, but I figured if we schedule something now, I could mark it in my calendar...and then we'll all book big shows on top of it, probably. But, we can try!!! or should we not try and make it a remote meeting, but more of a NY Chapter meeting?

Any takers? Any suggestions? (For themes, how about some suggestions, like: Steak & Scotch, Sashimi & Sake, Tacos and Tequila?)

Hope all are well!

Jim vB

Mark your calendars: Monday, April 23, 2007 at Peter Lugers, just across the Williamsburg Bridge.

That sounds good to me. How about Sashimi and Tequila, or Tacos and Sake?

Cool Did someone say FOOD?

Jim vB,

A Spring 2007 Gearslut Remotesters' luncheon sounds like an awesome idea.

Lets get some serious scheduling happening for sure.
If a big show or two gets booked we could try to include that into the luncheon plans...
Or, maybe not, but it's worth a try.

Maybe we can keep it as a Remotesters' luncheon date, but everyone is invited.
Either way, Remote or an extended NY Chapter meeting -- It all sounds good to me.

This maybe a bit over the top econonics wise, but Peter Luger's is minutes from my field shop. There are some decent places near by if Luger's is a bit too rich for us. We could get some din-din and head back to the shop and play around a bit or...

Not. We could figure another studio situation if this becomes a proper NY Chapter luncheon date. What do you folks think?
Like I said, it all sounds good to me!

Hanging with you folks is my main concern; whatever we decide to do (I'm sure) it will be great, so anything goes in my book. How about you?

One thing I kinow for sure, we need a few more suggestions so we can pick the best possibility.

It may be a great idea to include the Aura Sonic tour in there. We don't seem to be getting anywhere with scheduling it anyway, so maybe throw some food into the mix and see what happens.

Well, we do have good food delivery options here...
We can still throughout a few more options to choose from.
I also emailed Larry Hammel from Deepwave about this topic.
Keep those "possibilities" coming folks.

Would some pure vegetarian/teetotaller menu alternatives be possible as well ?

Hey guys, sounds like a great idea. Its been November since the last get together and we would really enjoy a tour of Steve's field shop. Its a great hang and you'll feel like you died and went to gearslut heaven. My vote for a "man" meal at Peter Luger's.

Larry & Steve, I think LUGERS is an ideal choice, as they expect long dinners or luncheons, and we'll have copious time to talk, eat, drink, talk, eat, talk, talk, drink, talk, drink, eat, talk drink. (BURP!)

Should we look for a weekday evening, or a weekend? I think Lugers would probably appreciate us more on an early weekday (Mon/Tues) evening party over a weekend, and perhaps that would be more suited to our lifestyles...as Monday is more of a "weekend" than most of us every get on a Saturday or Sunday. If we have more than ten people, we may get bumped to a private party room, so we need to choose a date and have people RSVP. Whaddya think? So far, responses are good, and it's only been a few hours since I initiated the thread.

Ivo, if you're flying in from the Czech republic, I'd love to have you (and other!) vegetarian or vegans, teetotallers or drunks, join us as long as you are not offended by others drinking booze and eating flesh. Many years ago in New Orleans I made a HUGE stink at a Smith and Wollenski's for my assistant Sarah, who was a wine-drinking Vegan, and made sure she had a great dinner that suited her, even when I sent her baked beefsteak tomato entree back...twice. She was the only one at a table of nine who did not eat flesh, but she had a great time as long as we did not wave our food in her face.

More thoughts? FOOD for thought?

Well, I can never say no to LUGERS.
I even have a Lugers credit card since they only except cash orn their PLCC.

I also think a Monday / Tuesday early evening date works best for a variety of reasons.
Booking Lugers for a weekend date can be a 6 to 8 week wait.
Late afternoons and early evening durning the early weekdays are usually pretty easy to aquire.
I have even walked in on a weekday with no serious wait.
I was chomping down within 10 minutes.

I will be more than happy to place the reservation.
Lets get a head count and day & time figured out.
I would like to meet at Luger's and head back to the field shop for some fun.
Does this work for you folks?

That sounds great. What kind of time frame are we looking at? Mid March? My weekdays (especially Mondays/Tuesdays) are pretty much open.

Picking a date out of thin air:

Do we like end of March? Or end of April? (We don't want taxes, Easter, or Passover to interfere with Gearsluttiness....)

Easter is April 8, so I think we're good with either month, at the end. Any Monday, Tuesday, and maybe even Wednesday would be fine for me.

Tax RETURNS? You mean you actually get something returned to you? The 23rd looks good for me at the moment.

Glad the 23rd is good for you. To me, "Tax Return" means I return my $$ back to the government, who wanted to keep it ALL.

In the last 20 years, I think I got money back from the gov't ONCE. They probably thought it was a mistake. My quarterlies kill me, too... oh well, that's 1099s for ya.

Cool, so the 23rd of April it is...

Now, what time are we talking?
I suggest late afternoon / early evening.
We have a better chance to get a reservation.
I need to book it today so, please get on this ASAP.
After the lunch we'll head back to my field shop and play around a bit!

You'll find the Current Remotester (GS NYC Chapter) Luncheon Guest List in another post below

I'm going to book the reservation with at least two additional guests from what the list includes to cover any last minute guests if they decide to come along...

If you want to be added to the list, do so now.
If you need to be removed from the list make it known ASAP.

So, the list is up to 11 plus two open slots for good measure...

Jim's thinking 5:30PM or 6:00PM. I think we should start at 5:00PM.
Any thoughts on these starting times.
I feel the earlier we book it the best chance we have to getting a reservation placed.

So, I just called Luger's to place the reservation and they said they cannot confirm a party of 14 at 5:30PM. They would in the afternoon around 3:45PM or later at night around 9:45PM...

Is an afternoon event out of the Question?

The dude on the phone told me I needed to call their main office for a party this large anyway. The earliest I can call is Monday, so we have a chance to figure this all out. I will do my best to make this happen, but we need a plan B or C.

Keep me posted on these issues.
