Talking Live Gospel band recording

I will be recording a gospel band live in a church during a fundraiser event tomorrow.And I am looking for any TIPS anyone can offer about recording in a huge ceiling church. The church is shaped like a triangle w/ wood ceiling. I did some pre production last week and recorded them with 2 mk-012's in x/y to mini disk just for referance, and spoke with the band leader about the gig.
The band has: 2 keyboards, 1 organ(w/ leslie), bass, 5 pc drums, 3 pc congas, 20 person chours and lead vocal. I have limited room(because it is a fundraiser event) so the band is crammed together and I cant really move them away from each other to minimize bleed.
Heres my game plan:
2 keyboards and bass -> DI
leslie -> MD421
mono drum OH -> AT3035
Snare -> I5
Kick->E602
Congas -> 2 sm57 (x/y- I am affaid to space the 57's because of phasing)
Chours -> 2 mk-012's (cant decide whether to go spaced or x/y)
Chours-> c414 xls (I figured putting this mic in cardiod in front of them about 6 feet way, 5 feet from floor - would I get any phasing problems w/ the other 2 mk012s?)
Main vox -> aux send from PA mixer
(Rack: digi002, 2 trident S20, DBX386, behringer ultragain digital dfegad )
I have never record this style before, nor have I ever recorded in a room sooo big and full of natural verb/echo. So I am pretty green for THIS gig.

My biggest concern is bleed in the choir's mics. The music is full of up and down dynamics and the drummers snare is all over the room when they are at the loud passages of the songs.

Any tips anyone can share would be welcomed.
Thanks slutz.

Make sure that you mic up the audience. If the show is anything like the gospel events that I have done, the audience will be as much a part of the music as the choir.

Good luck!

Good call, I forgot all about that. I think I will go cardiod(E609) for this. Should due.

What about using the AKG C414 in figure eight mode in front of the choir? ( I think I would get more of the band bleeding in the mic in figure 8)

Thanks

I think Fig 8 in front of the choir will get LOADS of band bleed as well as reflections from the ceiling & back wall, and will not be ideal. Go cardioid on the choir, and monitor in mono to check your phase issues. The good thing is, you use the 414s on the choir, you can try different patterns when soundcheck/rehearsing.

Unless you're tapped for channels, you may want a top and bottom for the leslie cabinet.

Plug your 002 system into a UPS so your files don't go bye bye if power blinks.

Best of luck to you with your recording adventure.

Elvis Presley Gospel CD's

and if you can even sing half way as good as Elvis, you
are half way to the top as this sort of music is complex
but powerful
