Talking Chistina Aguilera was the REAL DEAL at the Grammys!

She really proved again that she is a total artist with such an amazing voice that doesn't matter what she sings and use she just sound amazing!

What a voice, energy, passion, balls, technique , feeling!

The Red Hot Chili Peppers really sounded so weak next to her!!

Christina certainly sang her face off. But my fave was definitely Mary J. THERE'S the real deal.

It's all a matter of taste my friend. If I want the whole package, hotness and talent, Xtina is who I'd sit and watch in a smoky nightclub for eternity

i remember starting a thread here about this girl a while back.....damn, she was SMOKIN' tonight. i think even james brown himself would have been impressed with her singing on his tune.

the girl can sing her ass off. period. pure balls and the chops to back it up.

Well I think there is no way to say somebody was even close to C Aguilera!!
I am into Rock....but i have totally to admit that C. Aguilra is one of the best voices if not the best voice that put a step in this world!

If she would decide to sing Rock she would kill everybody!

You're right, it's totally personal taste. Even from a hotness perspective, I'm way more into Mary J. Everything about Xtina for me is just too overdone. But horses for courses, as they say. YMMV..

Yeah, she can blast paint off the wall ... that's for sure.

I guess I'm in the minority re: Ms. A. Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt she has a great voice and can really sing . But personally, I'd like to see her put more nuance into her performances, with less frenetic arrangements, and more dynamic range including the quieter end of the scale. I know she's certainly capable of it. I just thought she started out already at the upper end of the peak, and in a short time it didn't really have anywhere else to go but up ... up ... and uh, more up. Kind of like the loudness wars if you know what I mean?

I'd like to hear her after she's spent some time listening to Norah Jones.

Is it just me who thinks Christina A. oversings everything? She sounds like she smoked some crack before she grabbed the mic and went out on stage. The best part of her record was the production, IMO.
I really dug Corin Bailey, John Legend and John Mayer. That three-part song they did had some vibe.

She defines 'oversinging', it's like Mariah with volume. But some people like that. I prefered MJ Blige tonight ...

that's what i'll listen to when i wanna go to SLEEEEP.

i swear, i remember asking my friend paul kozel
(one of my favorite and most talented engineer friends)
what he thought of the norah jones album at the time, and he said,

"i don't know - i LITERALLY FELL ASLEEP AFTER THE FIRST TWO SONGS",

BEST SLEEPING MUSIC EVER - maybe there's a grammy for THAT.....
(i know norah already won a million grammies - i just think they
CATEGORIZED her incorrectly )

if ANYTHING, i think norah should listen more to CA.

i see your point - i just think norah is the WRONG example....

again, different horses......

No - she's the PERFECT example to my thinking. Jones does a lot more than the stuff everyone knows her for. She also rocks out with a few ensembles, sometimes in disguise. She can play a not too shabby guitar, while also wrapping those lovely pipes around songs that are a bit more up tempo. Hasn't released anything in that style as far as I know - tonight's 60 minutes was very interesting in that they had a segment on her. But her ability to nuance a line, is exactly what I think is missing from CA's delivery.

Cristina's so generally over the top, she could probably take a whole helping of Norah Jones lounge style, along with a few valium's ... and it'd probably just put her somewhere in the middle ... right in the pocket.

I look forward to CA maturing in her craft a bit. I think she'll be much more awesome than she is now. As for MJ, I always feel like she's yelling and her intonation drives me crazy. She was pretty good tonight though.

I'm only half into it and haven't seen CA yet, but for me the highlight was the police. Sting and the gang blew me away. Still have the energy and vibe they had 25 years ago.

I love Norah Jones' album. Looking forward to the next one. Some fun songs on The Little Willies album, too.

I agree that CA is wicked talented. I've always thought she was going to stick around and Spears would fade away. And then a few years ago I was being proven wrong... CA had hoe'd out and nobody cared about her, while Spears was more famous than ever. But now the circle is complete and I was right all along <chuckle>.

Mary J Blige is great when she's having an "on" night, but I've seen her with some "off" performances on these awards shows. I missed this one, but I guess it must've been reasonable. I hope she didn't blabber about Jesus too much.

Xtina and MJB both oversing everything! Everytime I hear either one of them they are both screaming at the top of their lungs. It gets really annoying and painful. I'd rather listen to Norah Jones anyday. But if you like R&B singing then pre-crack Whitney Housten is the best it gets.

IMHO, CA was incredible; as were Dixie Chick's (whoever that lead singer was), John Legend, and Beyonce.. as surprised how well they can really sing.

i also didn't know Justin Timberlake could play piano or guitar and sing at the same time.. but perhaps that was backup players.

I NEVER would compare Christina with Celine Dion!!

Christina have a personal style and most important an edge and felling!!
Celine is just a great voice but not edge at all, and with the personality of an 80 years old boring woman!!

I am sure if Christina would sing AC/DC's "Shook me all night long" everybody would say: " shit ! this girls rock"...when C Dion sang that song looked like a "Wanna be a rocker" kind of poser and ****ed up the song!
I felt embarassed seeing that!

Amiel,

I hear what you're saying and I dig where you're coming from.

CA has serious chops and an edge to boot -- IMO, she can sing any style of music and make it work!

Christina sucked a$$. End of story. It's worrying that people on here couldn't hear that. It makes me think people have totally lost touch with what's real in music. A song like that is far bigger than she will ever be able to handle.
