Question FX box for live vocal distortion/filtering

Any touring FOH guys out there that can reccomend a reliable, programmable fx box for distorting and filtering vocals? A band who's record I just finished are rehearsing for their tour and would like the replicate some of the vocal FX from the record. I'm guessing this would be something in addition to the standard tap tempo delay, reverb and harmonizer that seems to be in most clubs' racks - probably put on a sepparate fader for the engineer to bring up at specific points in the songs.

Thanks

For something cheap and dirty I use the "distortion" preset in my old spx90

That's the ticket! TC Fireworks is a bit pricey.

Distortion

Hi there,
Nowdays i am live-mixing a band that requires vocal distortion - SPX90-2000 have done it with a great sucess. (you can find 'em everywhere as well, It's not like adding an Eventide to the Rider which you cannot allways expect to receive).

Best regards, Noam.

I'm in a two piece rock group. Just drums, guitar, and vocals. We've been experimenting with vocal distortion. We bought a 4 channel preamp and I have a BOSS super overdrive. So far, I get way too much feedback when I apply the amount of gain that I'm after. That brings me to my question.

Do you use any feedback resisting or compression devices to tame feedback when using the Yamaha SPX90?

I'm considering buying one. I just need to know if I need anything else to successfully add grainy distrotion to my vocals.

I remember seeing one singer that had a Shure Geeen Bullet mic mounted right next to his regular mic. The 1/4" cable from the Bullet went into a few guitar stompboxes and then a DI of that output was taken to the PA. He would just sing into the bullet for the distorted/effected parts and control the pedals himself.

That has worked for me too The only thing is the singer tended to over use it tutt

Peace
