| I've been interested in these also. Zoom has a model out that looks like it is even more feature packed with a lower price but I've never been a fan of Zoom products. Also, I just saw a new product by Belkin that looks like a miniature Mackie 1202, you stick a video iPod in it and you've got a mini hard disk system with mic pres and faders, it looked very cool, but I don't know how it sounds. The price is going to be something like $179 plus the cost of the iPod (which I already have :-) Perhaps somebody with some experience with these things will chime in. |

| The Microtrack is a neat little pocket recorder for the money. I've been very please with its performance. The preamps are surprisingly quiet and the function set is good. In line in mode, the balanced inputs sound great. It's not as good as the D&M recorders (the 660 is only $100.00 more), but you can't put them in your pocket. I do know that M-Audio is working on a second model with more Prof features, but no date has been announced. The Zoom H-1 has an amazing feature set, and an equally amazing $300.00 tag, but I've heard that the plastic body could be a problem. All the dealers (including us) are waiting for a shipment to come in from Japan, which is why you haven't seen many yet or read many real reviews.

| Lives for gear | Also been using the MicroTrack 24/96 for a few months: it has some good things and some less than stellar things about it. Battery life is not as good as advertised - I can get a couple of hours with it using the supplied electret mic (which actually sounds pretty darn good!) One caution is the p48 - if your OB mics need 'true' p48, they won't work - the unit supplies 30v... All in all, it's a pretty good little machine - I use it to record gigs, as well as for sound design/wild sound for my film/video gigs. Very quick and dirty (and virtually undetectable/stealthy!) but watch out for handling noise, even on the chassis! I can't comment on the reliability of it yet, but it does feel flimsy (totally plastic) - time will tell how it holds up!
