I will keep on the lookout for the Roland units, then. I'm a pretty good auction sniper, Steve, so watch out! I don't even need EQ, just 24 channels with solo buttons and stereo out. I will probably end up going with a couple of 16 channel one space units. Even though they're usually stereo, I can use the pan function to separate channel 1/2, 3/4, etc. I wish the HD24 had a stereo out and solo-able channels.

On the subject of rack mixers, a pair of Alesis 12r takes up 6u and gives you 24 balanced line inputs (channels 9/10 and 11/12 are paired), 60mm faders, 2 aux's, 2-band eq. I have one and they seem reasonable quality.

£150 each.
