Hi! In the new year I will be involved in the sound recording for a TV shoot involving various folk musicians giving informal performances 'round a table' in a bar... We plan to use some of the miniature DPA mics hidden underneath the edge of the table, at the point where each musician is sitting, as the director is keen to have mics as invisible as possible... I was thinking of also experimenting with using a PZM 'boundary mic' in the centre of the table (I know folks use them to record conversations around a table, so why not music?!)... any thoughts on how it would work, recommendations for good boundary mics to try??! Cheers Iain |

| It'd work fine. In fact, if you want it invisible, just drill out a hole in the middle of the table and flush mount and omni capsule (or buy one designed for permanent install that mounts unobtrusively. You'll want to talk to the proprieter first and be sure no beer mugs end up on top of it..... -tINY |

I quite like the Crown PZM I have on my wall..use it for recording the room when jamming out new song ideas..captures a lot of detail!..not sure which model it is as it's an old one (about 2.5" by 3" and gold in colour).

Cool! Thanks for the responses so far! I'll look into those links... we can do what we want with the tables as the tabletop round which the performers sit is being built specially for the set... I think a flush mounted omni capsule may be the way to go... Any more suggestions of makes/models to look for? We'll likely be hiring in the mic for the job... Cheers Iain |

Just had a look at the link... Yeah those Crown mics look a great option... Just need to see if we can hire or buy easily in Scotland! |
