| Lives for gear | nothing in that range. u gotta spend upwards of 4-5k to get something decent, unless you find one used. DIY is the way. i just built a killer booth for my garage... I'm 1700 bucks into it ( hired a carpenter) and will spend another 1k on ventilation. determine if you just need a space to sound good, or if you have to worry about pissing off the neigbors, or getting outside crap on tracks ( isolation) different issues with different challenges, and costs $$$$.

| I dont know if this works in your situation but I converted my second bathroom into a vocal booth. The only cost was the the materials to treat the floor, walls and ceiling. I also did made it relatively portable. It takes me about 20 minutes to convert it back and forth. |

| Lives for gear | i've used some of the Whisper Room booths, hate 'em. First off, they show up to your house on 2 big skids, and the assembly's a bitch. shure, everyting's precut and drilled, but it's almost as mush of a pain as building it yourself... especially since places like Home Depot cut wood to whatever dimensions you like. Also, I felt they sounded like shit. If you're in a relatively quiet space, i think youd be better off building something that'll sound better and give you more for your buck (steal the dimensions off their site) or, like he said, use gobos... it works pretty well for me.

| wait 3 months i kno sumone whose making portable ones and gona be supplyin dem. doesnt stop the sound from waking the neighbours but gives you a perfect acoustic space to record. Plus it looks real slick (covered in the bandana pattern fabric) kinda like the auralex one below but alot cheaper in the £500 range, most probbly a lot better he really knows what hes doin. but dis in the UK |
