Thread Starter | recording? vocal levels.....
is there a rule about what levels to record at? i ended up yesterday recording about 30 tracks of vocals. im not used to recording vocals and i wanst expecting to do it. i kinda just ended up behind the controls when they were in the booth. it was something that ive never really done and i was kinda just going by ear. i ended doing most of them at -11.3 sounded ok, no clipping.......btw it was in ptle.....

Just keep it under 0. If your recording in 24bits then theres no need to record super hot. I like to keep it around -7

same, i aim for around -10db, peaking at -6 maximum. even that is pretty hot. 24bit has plenty of headroom... just don't worry about everything sounding quiet - just turn the speakers up... |
