I'm tired of it all

Whew, i am really sick of all this bullsh*t. The whole hip hop game has really deteriorated into a bunch of bullshit. I've been listening to hip hop since the early 90s, and its just gone steadily downhill ever since. Just look at this section of gearslutz, a whole bunch of damn idiots trying to get rich quick (not all of you of course). I remember when they first started this little subsection, there were some great posters, real professionals who knew what they were talking about, a place that you could really share a lot of info...now its just like a future producers jr. forum(yo, how much do i charge for my beats? Chekc out my myspace/soundclick page ). Sad that hip hop, something that once really moved me, has come to this steaming pile of dung. Hip hop just keeps getting more and more screwed up by a bunch of ignorant ass people. I've lost so much respect for hip hop in general, and every day i just get disappointed even more.

Yall can flame me now if you want, rant over.

In the past 2-3 months I've had at least 50 people inquire about how much I charge for a beat after hearing one of my tracks, I don't have an answer for them because I've never charged, but I'm sure quite a few people have, so it's just advice someone is asking for and thats what the forum is about right? I'm def not going to nor is anyone else going to get rich from $50 a beat, so I feel your argument, on everyone tryna make a quick buck but the artist that buys the beats are trying put something out and maybe thats their only avenue. I dont think its something to be as mad about as say, something like D4L? Thats the shit that pisses me off, but anyway, I feel on a few things but I think a lot of people are looking for even the simplest critique, so if someone wants you to check their myspace throw them a few ideas or give them props, even if its just on the overall mix. Thats why I want people to check my site, tell me what you think, I don't care if you think I suck, tell me something, everyone here is for the same thing, we're all trying to be heard.

This forum is not the feedback forum. If you want to post your myspace bullshit, go to the MP3 upload and feedback section. This is ENGINEERING AND PRODUCTION, not feedback.

This isn't the site for "trying to be heard". This is the site to discuss techniques, methods, gear. Sure, everyone's trying to be heard, thats part of the problem. Only a very few are actually worthy of being heard. Pay your dues, put in work, and you will be heard. Posting your myspace link isn't the way into the game, contrary to popular belief.

And Apex, there was a point in time where everyone here was a producer or engineer, now it seems like a bunch of bedroom beat makers just like MPC forums or future producers...not what i consider producers or engineers.

I thought the whole damn place went to hell after Alphajerk left!

But really, it's just a matter of the volume of folks that have come in . I just find my self really rapidly scanning and not reading every other thread. You gotta just move quick through the BS and get to the info.

btw: I charge 100.oo an hour for my "beats".

At one point in time when this site first started do you mean producers/engineers with plaques and degrees or interns or bedroom producers and engineers were here? I just came to this site section for some advice on equipment, I hate the idea of buying plug ins for hundreds of dollars only to find it to be a waste, same goes for any hardware that isn't nessecary.
If you don't hear my mix, how would you be able to critique it? Tell me what I should invest in? Or at least look at certain options? I'm lookin into leasing an office space and opening up a studio. I'm not trying to move the "bedroom" studio there, I want to know that if I charge someone they're gettin something worth money spent etc etc. I'm not here for you to tell me my shit rocks and I'm the next dre. If someone on here believes they'll get big from their myspace they're ass backwards, the bigger you get the bigger your myspace gets. If you have that experience point me in the right direction. I can't speak for everyone here, but thats what I need, listen to my shit tell if the shit needs something or less of something thats it, I've done(produced, recorded, mixed, mastered with another engineer) 2 albums I dont need you to tell I'm tight. Tell me what I need to get better, if you can.

It's because someone posted a link to our site on futureproducers, etc. and a lot of those people are coming over here...

Apparently people don't read stickies..... It says right there POST YOUR MUSIC IN HERE, yet everyone seems to think there music is so much more unique that it requires it's own thread.

I'm going to start moving these threads completely out of the hip hop forum when I see them, so if they want us to check their shit out they better follow the rules.

People feel free to post some suggestions on what I can do to help, because I don't have a lot of ideas, and you can't tell people not to join.

Maybe some ideas on what to add to the the sticky "Please Read This Before Posting".

i feel your pain Tony...I'm just a visitor, but you have to moderate these people.

As for ideas, i really don't know what to say other than moving/deleting the offending threads. Like you said, they don't follow the rules anyway.

Its just a small dichotomy of the hip hop world in general though. In the words of Ghostface..."buncha smart dumb niggas".

no, i mean professionals, as in people who get paid to do what they do, be it producing, engineering, assisting, even interning. People who have worked in studios and around musicians longer than most of the recent add ons have been listening to music.

Unfortunately, MOST of these people don't post here anymore. And its obvious why.

Trial and error...what works for someone else may not work for you. Thats just part of being a producer, finding out what works best for YOU and not anyone else.

Thats all fine and good, but there's an entirely other section of this board for that. If you actually read the rules about posting here, you would have realized that. But yea, your hip hop so the rules don't apply to you.

There have been several high profile mix and tracking engineer's who have spent time here... I'm not going to out anyone, but there have been a bunch who posted here regularly in the last year. Drew Coleman, the Neptunes engineer was posting regularly for a while. Mike Dean has been posting lately, and he is a great engineer. Jimmy Douglass has posted in the past, and he is the definition of high profile mix engineer. Russ Elevado has been posting recently (he did D'Angelo and the Roots, etc)... Dexter Simmons is an incredible engineer and he posts on occasion. These are huge names in this industry. Mariah Carey's engineer (Dana Jon Chappelle) has been posting on the site, as well and recently told us her vocal chain in the hip hop forum.

homie, you already proved my point for me.

but i haven't been posting here in awhile, for some of the reasons i posted. The reason i have an attitude is because i saw this forum doing really good in the beginning, to what it is now. If you can't understand why i have an attitude, then I'm most likely talking about you (proved even further by your defensiveness)
