MPC/ Tracking question

Anyone say the hell with it and mix in the MPC 2000xl instead then just 2 track to protools??

Seems like our tracks sound so much punchier and more together when we do
this as opposed to tracking out stems. Its not the timing as we have done the whole
4 bar click thing in protools to sync up.

Anyone?

we were tracking from the mpc main stereos to a GTQ into dual distressors -> 002,

it honestly sounds better tracked as a 2 track then stemmed out. Im not a fan of mixing in the box, 2 we sample mostly everything so its all highly compressed stuff already.

this is 2 tracked. (vocals still need to be mixed better)

sounds fuller than others that we stemmed.

hmmm... i track 4 outs and a stereo pair out of my mpc... sounds good to me... i don't know anyone that tracks only 2 either... you lose the opportunity of editing power and the chances to play with things individually... but, whatever works best for you is what you should do

so you track 4 mono outs, then a stereo pair as well. ya we were doing that and it def yeilded the best flexibilty / sound ratio.

that stereo pair that you track out, what is in it? like is it the complete track or just whatevers stereo (hi hats, samples, etc)

Just trying to experiment with the way we work.

the stereo pair is usually my wide claps, a few different accent "oomphs" to widen the mix a bit and toms...
