is protools vst-friendly?

im considering trying out protools, i use cubase for my vst-based setup, does protools have the same easy and smooth support for vst's as cubase have?

there is a vst to rtas plugin wrapper that should solve that.

I use the FXpansion VST wrapper on all my instrument plug-ins. The latency on most of the RTAS plugs was around 500 samples, compared to the VST wrapped plugs that sat around 50 samples of latency. You do the math!

Possibly because your buffer size in PT is set to 512?

The wrapper does not have any latency of its own.

You will encounter greater latency when using outboard DSP processors like Powercore/Duende/Liquid Mix/UAD etc purely because of how these systems work.

If your PT system has a system latency of 512 samples which a lot of LE rigs do.

Then you will see about 500 samples

Naw, my buffers at 256. Its just that some plug-ings, like Native Instruments line for instance, have high latency as RTAS. But back to the dudes original question!
