Managing Samples ...

Managing Samples ... was just wondering how you guys look after all your sounds / samples...i've only just got into it but i've already realised the need to back-up / label file names properly etc - how do you guys go about doing this...any cool tips?

Peaceee

man it's a never ending task.

i throw all my stuff into categories

Drums
--Sample CDs
--Breaks
---Hip hop
---Jungle
--Single Hits
---Kick
---Snare
---Etc...
Musical
--Loops
--OneShots
Instruments
--Percusson
--Stringed
--Synth
--Loops
Vinyl
--NameOfRecord

I try to break it down like that....that's just a sample of how I organize everything though.

i hate organizing samples but it has to be done. Drums are the worst. My lps are pretty easy to organzie because I just do it by artist and album title then each song is in that folder but naming drums keeping up with patches and refills is a pain in the ass
