above basic mixing techniques

Id like to know some mixing techniques that i can use in my computer based editor (excuse my illiteracy on the technical name) i already have dynamic processing comming through my preamp. I generally just eq low mids and highs at 3.3 -2.4 and 3.4 (roughly) then add a little reverb with the stock adobe audition 'tight and close.' add backup vocals and all done. I add de esser if needed. im looking to make the mixes sound a lot better. i have waves 5.0,wave arts, wavelab, cubase ( the effects from that), altiverb and a load of vst plugins.

Im wondering what i can do to make a better sounding mix. I understand theres no sure way of doing it every time but just some suggestions would be cool. Apreciate it.

Go out and buy the october issue of sound on sound magazine. There is a massive article about mixing and how to get your mix sounding like a 'mix'.

good luck!

Go on Amazon.com and grab yourself a copy of "The Mixing Engineer's Handbook"

That'll get you up to speed on all the fundamentals.
