Yo Maes,
I haven't hear timbo's new joint, but I definitely cosign with you on the Entourage track.

Sup Maestro?

Can you post a link to the song... I can't find it on iTunes or Youtube.

I can think of some reasons Entourage didn't hit... Let me know what you think.

1. What kind of dumb hook is that? It's not exactly poetic to ask a girl if she'll be part of your entourage.

2. Looking like a bug probably doesn't help dude out with his solo career.

3 The music sounds like something off of "My Way". It's a fun little riff but it's about a decade late.

4. It's like a little baby usher... but... not.

I could go on hating like this all night but I've got crap to do.

Peace, Paul

Timbo

Yeah..that track is HOT! It's got the elements of Justin Timberlake's "My Love". I am REALLY digging timbo's new direction...very inspirational.

according to a chick that manages Tim's webpage, one of his other producers did the track, some dude named King i think. some people think the track contains a sample from the underwater level in Donkey Kong Country for the SNES.

i was gonna say, no way tim did this...----years ago a big name writer played me a track he recieved from timbalands camp, and it sounded JUST like timbo, but the dude explained that it actually wasnt----- he's got all these kids who make dope trax working for him, who imitate the style... this track has the same feel as "my love"---if i was a betting man, id say its the same track guy, and NOT timbo..."produced by timbaland" means absolutely nothing as far as the track goes...

i
really like this track regardless

tim has people working with or under him but they are usually credited. Hannon Lane and Nisan Stewart come to mind.

yea i'd be surpised if timbaland gave away production---from my experience, "keyboards" means "i made the beat"---cant blame him though, --he's the one the labels go to

Nice track.

Doesn't blow me away, but it sounds good.

BTW if Kyle West had copyrights on Chords he'd get rich on this album.

Yo, Paul

I agree with most of your analysis on the Entourage track. Especially about it sounding very Usher-ish. The intro (btw, which is much to long imho) sounds just like the intro on Usher's Caught up. When I first heard it, I thought it might be a remix of Caught Up from the intro. And about it sounding like it was a little dated, I think that was the "beauty" of the track. I haven't heard a rolling bass line like that since the old Jam and Lewis daze. It was very refreshing and retro at the same time. The track (minus the vocals) is crazy - you gotta admit. where I think it falls short is just where you said it did: vocals and writing. Be my entourage??? Yeah I know a lot of chicks who are just waiting to sing that anthem at the club, lol. One final thought about this was the video concept. What the heck was that? I could have thought of a million other concepts other than what they ended up with.

Great Track - Bad writing/vocals and video concept.

When they say produced by Timbo if he doesnt make the beat and doesnt write the melody or lyrics, what exactly does he do?

On the Justified DVDs during the Neptunes sessions Pharrell is doing everything including singing showing Justin exactly what to sing. On the Timbo sessions he's not giving any help on the vocals as far as I can see.

I also loved Entourage. I'm not an Omarion fan either.

i'm sure timbaland is somewhat "hands on, " but all "produced by" really means is that you took credit for the final product, you paid who you had to pay to get the job done----the labels and artists want TIMBALAND, so thats who they go to----it always amazes me that labels are never really willing to dig deeper to find who's REALLY putting the record together---they could get the same product for a fraction of the cost---- but every so often you get a scott storch who branches off, but by the time they do, you end up paying HIM 100 thousand a track anyway!!!
