Nice guitar tone on the track! I have just a little feedback. The vocals gets washed on few words, I would do a little fader automation. Also the rimshot type sound is a little thin. I am hearing small sounds like that being used for the snare in this style of music, but they usually present themselves a little more solid. Perhaps through a analog comp with trannys with no comp - just for the color that will make it solid, or something like colortone pro in the box. Was this mixed in protools HD or on a console, other? Much success to you!!

Thx for the feedback,Jazz!.....and word@ some fader rides on the 1st verse...i hear that too...

Yea..we'll try a few things on the rim.....i know i dont want a typical "smack-your-eardrums-hiphop-rimshot-or-snare" though...I want sumn more smooth jazzy if anything.....

Mixed in Protools LE on digi 02 clocked with apogee 16x converters...we reamped the main guitar through a brent averill 1276 which helped give it some body as the dry guitar was recorded direct thru presonus firepod pre...also used some other outboard like a DBX 160, an old Altec Limiter..few other things...

The only thing I would say... is that the vocal sound a bit low and muffled. The instrumentals are tight man..

thx DC........one thing i'm noticing about the low end...

It's sounds pretty good when played flat on my sony stereo which has a sub woofer ..but when i turn on the "groove" button which is basically a harmonic exciter that boost bass and high end....it sounds waaaaaay too boomy...whereas my other cd's sound good with it on...or at least translate decently....why is this?

Nothing to fear Blues , your other CD's have been mastered , with the right mastering your tracks should sound good on your Sony enhanced as well ....

I agree with the rimshot/snap... I know the sound you're going for but I think it needs to be a little more present...

Aside from that, this is a nice track... but if you're looking at it from a marketability standpoint, I don't think this should be a lead single. If anything this seems like a 3rd release. Just my opinion....

Right on Rezz...so it's a mastering issue not a mix one...whew...good....i really didnt want to agonize over the low end again if i didnt have to...

And yea,LCD..alot of our friends have saying the same thing as well....this is just so different fom whats on the radio...i thought if we released it...it'd set us apart from what everyone else sounds like these days...

we'll see...we got 2 other songs that are single material as well...

Don't be fooled. It's a mixing issue, not a mastering issue. Your mix should sound as close as possible to what you want it to sound like at the end. The less work you leave for the mastering... the better the final result.

Note: The low end is eating up your vocals... simply bring the volume down.

One thing I think could help is a little more width on the shaker and the stuff you got playing on the top, you could beef up the rim a bit, but it does sound ok with the finger sanp on top. I would experiment with beefing up the rim then pan the snap and the shaker and the other highs a little left and right just to open up and let the guitar an the vocal take the centre.

Nice good rich clear sound though (that's that apgoee at work, right there...I'm so jealous )

Sounds nice! A little thick in the low mids. I love the ladies. I'd like to hear the PCM version.
Peace

thx for the tips,yall....

So i'm going try the following.....

turn down the kick 1 or 2 dbs
turn down bass 1 dbs
find a better rim
Maybe thin the low mids in the guitar more?
Automate the vocals...

I also think the 1 verse could use a lil lowend bump to warm it up a bit?

that should take care of it...
