Whats the best reverb hardware and plug-in for hip-hop beats?

Just wondering what the best reverb hardware peice, and plug-in is for hip-hop beats? Mostly for drums, like on a snap or clap, ect. Similar to the reverb on the finger snaps in 50 Cent "Candy Shop", and Monica "Everytime The Beat Drop".

Thx!

i would say S.I.R. with nice convolutioned waves which is free, you cant beat that on an aux buss. And if you have cash grab altiverb, nice reverbs.

With the Plate 140 from UAD-1, how long is the reverb? Would it be too long for me to add on a finger snap that only need like a 2-3 second reverb?

uad plate killz for the price

high budget hiphop albums are laced with real emt plates verbs and digital verbs. also the real deal lexicons. i've mixed with real emt plates. they rule. the plugs are not the same. (but plugs like uad still are sweet)

however, to improve the vibe of uad plates here are 2 tricks:

1) run the audio through 2 uad plate verbs with lower settings. (adds more randomness and can sound closer)
2) run uad through a fatso for some harmonic distortion (if you have a fatso )

real plates cost good $$$$, need to be serviced, way a fu$kload , and take up quite a bit of space and also need an iso room. (then why do i still want one? )

trust me the uad is your best bet

best of luck

Thanks guys, whats the best lexicon reverb plug in? Also whats the best lexicon hardware peice out that they currently sell in stores? I basically only want it for short reverbs for drums and mabye some instruments.

For hardware i found there is a Lexicon PCM80, PCM81, and PCM91, which one would be best suited for me? and isnt there a TC Powercore plug-in emulation of the lexicon that is supposed to be really good aswell? Thx!

Best early Lex plugin yet...and it's $39.00

If you go analog hardware go all the way...480L.

Anything else will you leave you wanting.

If you go Altiverb buy a pair of Lexi PCM42's and run them in front for an analog predelay for the 480L impulses.

It helps soften the sound and makes it fit better in the mix.

I've never used the TC Powercore so i have no idea.

Reverb

Definately Altiverb. That is one hell of a good deal. It sounds phenominal for a pluggin. And, unlike hardware, you can use it as many times on a session as you like. You can only use a $6000 hardware reverb once in a mix, without multiple bounces.

You should download the demo's of a few pluggins and compare them.

Just to clarify you can use a 480L as 2 different reverbs(it has 4 outs).

And it does sound better then Altiverb.

When you are paying $5K-$6K you are just not paying for a so-so processor.

You are paying for a classic.

That's cool, I didn't know that it had multiple outs. Just to make a couple corrections. In no way did I say that altiverb was the best reverb ever. There are deffinately some better hardware units. But of the software reverbs I've tried, I like it the most. I also think that with altiverb you get a lot for the price. And in my opinion it's not a "So-So processor", I think it sounds really good. This is also just my opinion, I'm sure there are many other people that feel differently.

Sorry just to clarify what i meant by so-so processor i meant a run of the mill outboard unit not Altiverb.

You don't have to apologize for liking Altiverb... It's a great plugin and has served me quite well.
