ensoniq eps

What's going on guys. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between the sound of the regular eps vs the eps 16. I know the eps is 12bit and the eps is 16 bit. I just wanted to know if there is a more audible crunchiness to the eps 16. thanks.

Well I don't know what answer you found, but to me the 16 plus sounds better than the EPS. I think it's because of the Effects.

16 plus sounds better than the ASR to me too, but the memory thing forces you to be clever with samples.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on using it strickly to process drum samples to add a little bit of grit. I also have an asr10. I just wanted a dirtier sound for drum samples and found an eps16 for dirt cheap, just wanted to see if it might be a good purchase or does the 16bits clean it up too much. Also do you no if the filters are digital or analog because I keep finding conflicting information about that.

Both the EPS and EPS 16 have digital filters, but they sound damn good and 'analogue'.
The 16 has the 24dB filter and 2 high pass filters as opposed to EPS single high pass.

They have a low pass, band pass and high pass filters.

I was merely pointing out the difference between the two re the filters.
