THE Essential MPC 2000 (and all MPC's) question!

What's up y'all!?

Big MPC 2000 question - but this goes for ALL MPC's. We've probably all seen Just Blaze working the MPC4000 on YouTube.. and this and my own experiences with the MPC have really got me (and probably many others) wondering:

THE BIG QUETSTION:

Is there a way to let other samples stop by pressing another pad? So that the samples play 1-at-a-time and not through eachother when ur pressing the pads? Example: you've got a drumloop going and u have several sampled horns 1 on bank spread over 4 pads and they all have different notes. If u press pad one.. and then press pad two.. the two sounds will play THROUGH eachother. Is there a way that when you press pad two.. the sound on pad 1 will stop playing?

I know someone know... haha. Holla. Enlighten us.

i use the 60 and this is definitely an option on there. i'm not familiar with the 2000 at all but it's gotta be there.

not sure if it helps but on the 60 this option is located under the SOUNDS section where you select a program and specify your pad/sample asignments. it's called CUTOFF, look it up in the manual if you have it handy. otherwise, go over to http://www.mpc-forums.com and you'll definitely find what you need.

good luck! peace.

yes... there is... MUTE GROUPS... ie the typical open hat and closed hat scenario... create a mute group and assign those pads to it... voila

go to program,

hit the pad w/ the sample you want to edit,

click the params tap

goto mute groups change this to whatever number you like

hit another pad

put this samples mute group number to the same

now when you hit the pads the samples cut each other off

I hope that is what you are talking about

On the 2000 XL its under program - > params -> overlap (hit open window). This brings you to the mute assign window in which you can have the pad turn off two other pads.

There are no mute groups in the 2000. Maybe there are in the XL, but not the classic. You can pads on the 2000 to mute up to two other pads -- but no more. It is a pain. Mute groups would be good. You can select the two pads that are muted by hitting "open window" in the program edit menu, where the options are poly or mono.

Hopefully he figured that out sometime in the last 5+ years.

Yeah, I'm just adding to the database of knowledge for the next person who searches for the question.

The big question on math: does 2*2 always and in all countires equal 4?
Waiting the thread to be DESTROYED.
Oh, that is a 2006 thread and my response waz directed at the OP

The best cut implementatin is the CUT\CUT BY like in FL. Simple and efficient.
That would be the way to create new MPCs - incorporate the optional OLD SOUND(like additional input\output board allowing to sample\route the signal into), new features and the sequencer stability of 3000\60. the clock of 2500 is kinda stable still it has some rare time lag overshoots (not so much rare in case of a real world multitrack sequence).
