I'd check it with the subs at the end, but i'd rather have a clear mix, than just try to get the room vibrating.

NS-10's can do anything, and MANY MANY hip-hop albums that you own were probably done on them.
Have you seen what NS10's are going for nowadays, though? Between the speakers and an amp, you would be way over budget.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Just as available (if not moreso) than MPC60's, and TR808's that everyone loves. Nothing looking around on Craigslist, eBay, the used page here, or Harmony-Central couldn't get you in a few hours. Hell, i'd say that I could probably find a pair of them online, quicker than I could find a guy on a Guitar Center sales floor to find something and actually get me a price and get it to me.

I dont think I'll ever buy anything off of Craig's List because none of that stuff is guaranteed. As of right now the front runner for me is the Yamaha HS80M...

nothing wrong with getting shit off of CL. i actually like it better than ebay cause you can meet up with the people in person...even demo the gear in question.

i usually get their contact info too so if the gear goes bad down the road i can show up at their house and whoop their ass for trying to pull one over on me....(not that i've ever had the occasion to.)

shit i've gotten on CL:
- sebatron vmp2000e preamp
- elektron sidstation
- sherman filterbank
- neumann tlm103

all working flawlessly........................

hello,

I am in the same problem : looking for the best headphones for mixing (although I know it cannot replace speakers).

Has to be good in the lows !!!! (it is for hip-hop and dance music

I heard the Beyer Dynamic DT770 PRO are killers for that ? ? (I am currently hesitating between Sennheiser HD600-650 and the DT770Pro)

Any opinions

THANKS

Yea, not to thread hijack, but I've bought a TON of stuff used through CL, eBay, HC, here on GS, and stuff that Guitar Center marked as 'no returns'. No guarntees and I've rarely gotten screwed. I've gotten:

Minimoog Voyager
MF-101
MF-102
Sidstation
Machinedrum
TG-33
Quantec QRS
(2) AMS 1580S
Digi002R
SonicCord Bantamn Serial 0001
Agile 335ish guitar
(2) PSA-1's
AT4060

and probably a ton of other stuff that I'm forgetting off the top of my head. If anything, i've found that warrenties are overrated. I mean, there's not much that can go wrong on a set of passive speakers. Wire comes loose? Cones burned out?

I've been using the ST-6's from KRK for years now when my NS-10's tweeter blew and I haven't turned them on since, since repair.

I get great mixes out of those speakers, they remind me of the old Alesis Monitor 1's.

Not the best speakers but translate very well to all systems. And only 99.00 each, you can't beat them. AND they have taken abuse!!!

my hd280s are EXTREMELY accurate and dont hype the hi-end whatsoever. the hi-end almost sounds a bit "boring". great for mixing.
