Thread Starter | Need some advise!!!
Hey! I got a homestudio that includes gear like: Powermac G4 1,25*2, Digi 002 PT 7.0( the digi i sometimes hate because it looses sync), Genelec 8040, MPC 4000. The thing is that i need some advise on some good compressors. Ive been thinking to get a good alround stereocompressor. Ive heard that i should get two Distressors that works with everything or do they? Im getting a Dbx 160a for bass, kick, snare. I have tryied it and it works really good. Also, i was thinking of getting an older mixingconsole that has good micpres and eq´s, any advise on what mixer i should look after would be appriciative. Thanks, Raf |

Distressors are great! Maybe a Fatso on the mix buss....not really my flavour but it's a popular thing to do. (edit) oh and I almost forgot....try a Focusrite Red comp on the mix buss sometimes it's pretty cool. DBX 160's are great! Well rounded compressor series....160VU, 160X, etc. For bass I like Pultec>LA2A for the DI On the cabinet FET47>Berwin Victor comp(custom made)>Neve 1073or1081 and a 421>Berwin Victor>Neve 1073 alittle warmer 1081 more directional Sometimes I do a mix of both pre's Snare's you gotta try the transient designer's unbelievable...probably one of my fav's..... Also, for a room mic stick a vocal stressor on it.... I don't know what it is about SPL but they just work! Anyway, good luck and keep up the good work. Poly |
