First post here on GS, just crawling out of the woodworks to say

Of course! Vstis are absolutely comparable to hardware! thumbsup It all depends on what you're after soundwise, and how flexible you need your instruments to be. It's a matter of taste. Anyways, this has been discussed over and over and over again - just do a search and you will probably find a zillion posts on the subject.

use your ears, and get to know each plug or hardware synth strengths and weakneses as much as posible..maybe its bad for bass but totally awesome for pads and vice versa..Its always nice to get some advice, but the man standing next to you is almost 99% likely to have a diffrent set of preferences..explore and listen with your own ears..both hard and soft

The two I have are the M-Tron ('cause most people aren't gonna maintain a mellotron) and the Moog Modular ('cause who's got a Moog Modular for real?)
