Want to buy an MPC. Which one?

Here's a question other people must've had:

I want to buy an MPC, which one would be best for me.

1. Forget the MPC4000. Out of my financial range.

So I'm picking between:

<2nd hand>

MPC 2000
MPC 2000XL

or

<new>

MPC 2500

I'll be tracking my sounds into Logic, since I'll mix everything (vocals, MPC, JV2080, E-Mu Proteus2000, E-Me Turbo Phatt board) in the PC.

I see that the MPC2500 is € 1600. <Im from Europe> so $ 1700.
I see an MPC2000 4 sale somewhere 2nd hand for € 700.

I would like to get some feedback from y'all on what choice would be wise.

Holla - let's start a discussion on this.

1 vote for the 2000XL. I was in the same situation and I decided on a used 2000 XL and it's great. Chop shop would be nice, and so would 4 MIDI outputs, but definitely not a necessity.

i own the 2000xl and love it...but what about the 1000? many swear by it and i believe it's a fair bit cheaper.

None of the above. For the price You could get a Korg PadKontrol pads and coupled with Guru drummachine sampler and some DAW like ableton- much more flexible and the same fun with pads and much faster. I would not even dfegad on the MPC But thats me of course- no flames please

cheers

I have a 2500 but you can get the 4000 used for the same price. All depends on what features are most important to you. Check out the comparison chart on akai's site.
