Is the P-Solo a GOOD pre amp to get for vocals, etc??

Hello everyone. I'm looking at a True Systems P-Solo mic preamp. I've heard nothing but good reveiews about this particular preamp and about how awesome they sound. Is it something definitely worth investing about $200 dollars more in, or go could I go with a grace 101 or a fmr rpn preamp?

I record mostly Hip Hop and R&B music, and want to have professional sounding vocals like the best of them (Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Pac). Is the P-solo a very good mic pre am to get or stick with a grace 101 or rpn amp?

Thanks

I was looking for the best buy for my money and definately need a pre amp that can provide a high end sound. The P-Solo is a smaller one channel version of the True Systems Precision 8, which I heard sounds very clear, defined and very transparent and has been used widely by professionals.

Also i would like to amplify my Korg Triton and MPC 2000XL to make my music sound professional, clear, and transparent, with alot of gain.

I hear that the P-solo did very well on a recent sound test and wanted to know does anyone personally have this and can recommending it?

Realize that both the Grace and the P-solo are mono only, so tracking an MPC or Triton isn't happening unless u track everything separate in mono.

For real!!! Duh!!! I was looking for the best buy for my money and definately need a pre amp that can provide a high end sound. Will i benifit by choosing this P-Solo over the Grace 101 or RNP if I am looking for a clear and high detailed vocal sound? That is what I am asking?

I am on a limited budget and I am trying to get the most for the money. So around the $400 - $700 price range I heard that these 3 preamps are in a league on their own. So I wanted to know which one of these would you pick.

Also what other preamp would you recommend for hip hop?

You'll be happy with any one of those - as long as you're using a good mic and have a good vocalist.

I've only seen country/folk guys using the P-SOLO, but that doesn't mean shit. When referring to pre's, isn't "awesome" contradictory to "transparent"? 1073 = awesome, SSL pre's = transparent, but not awesome.

I've used the True Systems pre's a few times, and they sound great. They're super clean, and transparent. If your not looking for a pre that imprints any kind of signature, it's fantastic. It's probably the best bang for the buck, and they're built really well. If you want to get something in that price range with a bit of flavor, go for the Universal audio Solo 110, or Solo 610 pieces. They sound sweeeeet, and they add a nice touch of colour.
