Rick Ross-Port of Miami

What yall think of this album?

I'm really feeling it, great production, nice mixes, our boy Ross is making Miami proud! And he's selling a bunch of records. Hopefully this will bring some more attention to Miami artists, there's a bunch of talent down here.

I love Hustlin', and the mix on that track is really sweet. The rest of the album is pretty much average.

the runners got 4 tracks on the album. jr rotem has a track on there, probably one of the best ones IMO. Mario winans got a track on there. Cool and Dre got a few, DJ Toomp, Jazze Pha, Akon, J Rock, Big Reese, J. Venom... i think thats it.

I'm waiting for a mainstream rap album with one producer... I have a feeling I'll be waiting a while.

I don't mind a bunch of different producers, just different flavors. although it would be interesting to hear a mainstream album with just one producer.

i like Rick Ross. maybe he's not the greatest lyrically (fine, by a long shot) but because the guy has a certain swagger - that...confidence, that made Biggie such a good up and comer. not comparing the two, so no need to flame.

as for one producer for the album...well, when's the last time you went to the best restaurant in town and ordered 12 plates of the same white rice.

appetizer, main dish, side dish, AND dessert...and you order the same thing.

different producers add their own flavor to the music. i have no qualms about varying creativity.

That track was mixed and remixed like 7 times.... it better sound good!

Also, as far as a ghostwriter? I dont know... his stuff always sounds the same. When I tracked him he used 3 punch lines from 3 other songs. I heard the same about him before I worked with him and it was true!

first listen

Upon first listen i'm really digging this album. Kinda pissed that itunes doesnt include liner notes because i like a bunch of the tracks. That whole miami vice cocaine vibe that cool and dre threw down is nice.

on first listen i liked it but some songs sound like other songs on the album. with all the producers on there i expected a little more diversity in soundscape

I don't think it'd be like getting 12 orders of white rice- I think it'd be like having 12 dishes made by the same chef.

The more producers you have the less the overall sound of the album flows IMO. Unlike albums where Dre does all/majority of the tracks...... I don't think I'd say those albums are just a bunch of plates of white rice.
