It's been a while since I'm in this forum, and, for my part, I'm very proud to be part of it. Especially for the tech talks and everyday's tips everybody's bringing up. I really think there's golden people, famous or unfamous, writting in this forum, because of their true dedication and passion for this game. Still, at this point, I always thought it missed some "events talks"... Just like live shows, but in a thread. Let me explain... Everybody here knows somebody that knows somebody that know somethin' bout it (thanx Twista ^^). Everybody wants to ask "this engineer" or "that artist" how he's done "this sound". The idea would sound like, for example (let's dream a little) "The Timbaland Thread". Everybody would post crucial questions to this artist, in this thread, and the most useful & appropriate questions would be asked, in real life, to this artist, by the guy who knows him well and who was able to take 30 minutes out of his life to record the interview, and then write it all down in the end of the thread (and then the thread would be locked by the moderators). This idea would be up to the moderators, but also up to you guys. Tell me what you think about it.

Cool idea... would be hard to get it off the ground and even harder to sustain it as a regular thing... but if the people that know people can make it happen, then that would be well wicked! Nice suggestion in any case.

I know it will be hard to make it happen everyday. That's why it would be called an "event". Like something that happens once every two or three months. And, btw, in my mind, a "Guest Star" doesn't always mean famous. It could be someone that has a great knowledge in a specific discipline. Like a writer in a prestigious gear-related magazine, or even a protools operator in a well known studio. The first post would intruduce the artist / engineer, his skills, and his discography and what he has done in it, or what he's known to be good at. Good tips doesn't always come from the face that they put in front of the TV screen. And as I've learnt from what I've read here, most of the time, especially nowdays, a hit is made by more than one and only man. The most difficult part would be gearslutz' member's part... Printing the most important questions, recording the interview, and to writting down the answers back in the forum can be a little time consuming... But I'm sure the "Guest Star" himself, will be pleased to teach some of his tricks to people that respect him because they really understand his talent.

| Lives for gear | I think that's a great idea. They just did something like that on PSW, and it was highly sucessful if I remember right.

I already did this exact same type of thing with Jimmy Douglass for my DVD (& he is Timbaland's engineer)...

Not quite...those allow the guests to respond to individual questions, and have worked out horribly in the past (shipshape, MB and AJ, etc) btw, Ninja Gaiden ruled!

U'm aware of this, Tony, but why not make this think an event for every two / three month ? Or ever every month ? We don't need "overbooked well known" artists, we can ever ask all these question to someone we all know for his special skills on this or that special domain in the forum.

Sure, we can do it... But, people will have to come up with the guests themselves. I don't have the time to do something like that now. So, if somebody knows an artist or producer, etc that would be willing to do it, go for it. I'll then start a thread and sticky it at the top.
