new Just Blaze x Baauer - Higher:thoughts?

https://soundcloud.com/just-blaze/ju...-baauer-higher

what do ya'll think of this? Just is supposedly doing an all EDM EP and this is the second single. the first was a house version of exhibit A called exhibit J. I like it, really shows his versatility. this is the same guy who made girlsgirlsgirls, public service announcement, the roc, lord knows, u dont know. for a guy who was a straight sample based boombap producer this shit is kinda crazy. I also wonder how much of the track Just programmed/composed verse Baauer

postmodernism?

a lot of current stuff is crap, but i actually do like the fact there's this schizophrenic eclectic mind state taking over where anything and any collab is possible.

or maybe it's just a has been panic move trying to stay in the game. lol.

Tough call. I appreciate that it's different and borrowing from other genres but I'm still not feeling it 100%.

with the right combination of intoxicants this could potentially blow my mind. But in a sober state, it's a bit too much to process.

The mix could use some work. Sound like the kick, 808, and baseline are all fighting for space. And sound like they limited the shit out of it, one second the kick knocks and the next bar it's quiet

It's funny to hear all those producers today using straight oldschool trance tunes in their music. And a lot of people call this new fresh tunes hahahah. Never heared EDM from europe before.

It's ok... kinda sounds like a Hit-Boy(Niggas in Paris ect...) knock-off to me.

It was mainly to see what the forum thought about a sample based boombap producer making some trap shit. And if you think trap isn't a form of hiphop then you're as dumb as the idiots calling trap a sub genre of dubstep

Just Blaze has been a versatile producer / engineer. He was never just a sample based 'boom bap' producer. Listen to Marsha Ambrosia's work that he did with her, absolutely beautiful. Examples for days. But yeah I'm digging this track

It's not bad, I think that if it came on at a bar or a party, I would vibe to it but I don't love it either. It's cool it some ways, I think most good EDM is better, I think most of Just Blaze's work is better.

I don't know if it's just me but the actual quality isn't that great. It sounds kind of amateur, or maybe semi pro is better. Both in the mix and basic sound choice.
