I'm trying to decide between the Dynaudios and KRKs myself (although my budget is for the Dynaudio 5as). My Guitar Center has BM5a on display but not hooked up to listen. They look very small compared to other monitors. I've been leaning towards the Dynaudios from all of the recommondations made on Gearslutz, but I noticed when I look at studio pics of Hip Hop studios (Scratch magazine etc.), I am always seeing the yellow KRKs and never see Dynaudios. I will be using my monitors for everything (production, mixing, etc). It's possible the KRKs I am seeing in all of the pics are just for production use and not mixing. |

I use a pair of Dynaudio BM5a's in my home studio for hip hop production. They sound great, I have also worked in a studio with a pair of KRK Rokit8 monitors. And imho, the Dynaudios sound flatter. Also, the reason you may not see alot of Dynaudio BM5 monitors in studios is because by equipment standards, they're fairly new. I've seen alot of upper level Dynaudio monitors in "hip hop" studios, like air15 and air25 pairs. Also I've seen BM15's setup alot as well. |

Dynaudio is hands down the flatter monitor. I dig the Bm5a's alot. I recently heard the BM15a's and was blown away. Go for the Dyn's!!!!

I'll go with the Dynaudio's. I've only heard one slight negative respsonse after months of researching. I've heard the Dynaudio's were very accurate, but miss some low end if you are doing Hip Hop type music. Most people recommend a sub to go with them. I don't have $1000 for the Dynaudio sub. Any cons on getting a cheaper sub from KRK, Tannoy or Yamaha to go with the Dynaudios? |

If you are going to go for Dynaudios (and you should- they are more balanced than KRK's) then consider getting a sub. The only caveat with the Dynaudios (5's and 6's) is they do not go low or loud. A sub with a crossover will send less bass energy to the LR speakers so you will have more headroom on the LR's and the sub will take care of your lows. Highly recommended. James |

I have a pair of Dynaudio BM5A monitors, and they are nothing short of amazing. Currently using them with a KRK Rokit 10-inch sub, and the results are great for hip-hop mixing.
