I've been listening to you guys since the first one came out. I'm curious I. How you get the reverb and delay to stand out in the mixes so much. I'm working with a similar artist and I can never get that right.

Experiment with reverb.
Reverb should NOT be equal on both sides of the stereo field!

It sounds unnatural to have reverb all center!!!!!!

tbh... not feeling the re masters anywhere near as much as the originals, this is both from an artist perspective and general listening perspective. Still plenty of lush phrases and beautiful sounds/ides going on in the new stuff but it seems that imo.. the sad dark sounds were at home in the original less perfect mixes.

I've never heard a dude sound so sad about sex too.... it's getting a little done, dude needs to cheer up a lil, switch it up on occasion.

Thats ok though... there are a few peeps here that cry wank over the Weeknds albums and the production, if you are the real illangelo, they're going to wet themselves lmao.

Honestly.....not feelin Weeknd..not my cup of tea. Way too much ambient elements going on in his music. Makes you feel like you took 4 percocet.

Illangelo I love your stuff bro, your tracks always inspire me. I got 2 questions.

1. Are either you or The Weeknd fans of Pink Floyd? Sometimes I get a Pink Floyd vibe from you guys music.

2. On "Outside" what made y'all decide make the little off crash hit softer than it did on the original version? I kind of preferred it when it hit harder.

Btw I bought the album and I like presentation of the discs with the symbols that represent the album titles, and those foam cd holders. Dope stuff.

What are the major things you changed in the mixes of Trilogy and what made you change them? I notice it's more 808 kick drum centric, with the kick drums louder and punchier, and other drums quieter.. Personally, I like the old mixes better. You were the only one that mixed Trilogy, right?

Pink Floyd is the man. Yes huge influence. We don't listen to much urban music. We are trying to bring it back to innervisions (stevie reference for those who are lost).

That was my decision from the beginning, but you know how deadlines can rush an initial mix. So I was happy with my new mixes this time around to really fine tune everything.

Thanks for stopping by Illangelo! Really dig the original and remaster release. I take it that both you and Doc play guitars based on tracks like "the morning", "wicked games", "rolling stones", etc. Can you drop some details on:

1. What guitars were used or that you prefer (Strat, les Paul)
2. If you recorded them DI, did you run them through Guitar Rig or some other amp sim.

...that would be me.

Thanks so much for joining the boards! I'm a huge, huge fan.

I'm curious: how does the songwriting process work? Do you make the instrumental track before writing melody and lyrics starts? Do you contribute to writing melody and lyrics?

Rough intro Haha! Welcome Ill. I have not heard much to be honest. I listened to one mixtape with the MJ cover. I wasn't a fan of the vocal or sound. That doesn't take anything away from the music though. Clearly a really talented team and you're doing your thing which is refreshing. Lots of people including all the girls round my way really like it. Hey i'd take that over me and dayl .

God bless
