Thread Starter | Colab with any rapper dead or alive... Who would you pick?
Hey fellow Producer's M.C's gearslutz etc. I recently got a bunch of acapella's to play with from B.I.G. 2Pac etc. and I was able to do a Drumnbass/Hip-hop track colabo with Notorious B.I.G. from beyond the grave.
I had always respected biggie for saying such outlandish shit, (something I do myself as a rapper) and also the fact that he talked about real sh*t as much as he talked about party sh*t.
It's f*ckin incredible what we can do with technology... to be able to mix B.I.G vocals onto my 173 BPM dnb track. I know I cant ever profit from it, but whatever...
If you could Colab with any Rapper dead or alive who would it be?
I have worked with Notorious BIG (Kinda) but now Id like to work with X CLAN or Afrika Bambaataa (I would imagine its hard to find X CLAN acapella's).
I also was able to do a remix of TRACY CHAPMAN'S Behind the wall. using her vocals chopped up over a rap beat... it came out so SWEET SOUNDING, to have Tracy Chapman rapping over a beat.
AINT TECHNOLOGY GRAND.

Outkast baby!
I love the fact that they won't conform to what everyone else is doing. They are what CREATING is all about, not REFURBISHING and IMMITATING. This is especially important to me because so many times you hear people talking about what it takes to make a hit. And usually their idea of a hit has a lot to do with what is the latest "thing" to do on a track or album, which is my #1 thing NOT to do. No matter how good it sounds initially. To me, if what I'm creating sounds to close to anythingelse, then it gets dumped immediately.
Perfect example: Every since Usher's "Yeah" hit, everybody and their momma has to have that same type of saw synth in their track. EVERYF*CKINBODY. Lil Jon's "Let me see you do it", Yung Joc's "It's going down", the list goes on...
When it's time to create music, the attempt to bend rules should always be taking place. And this is what Outkast is known for. I love their music, but my love for their music is second to my love for their openminded-ness.

artistically....2Pac. don't think I need an explanation.
for business purposes..Eminem. regardless of how much I don't like him...look at 50 Cent.
Em's demographic is HUGE and this is obviously the best business move you could make.

Pep Love and Phaorohe Monch (they sound similar, but very different styles, i'd like to have them goin' at a track together)
Common & Talib w/ Boo & Gotti (they look like they are the same ppl from parallel universes! it'd make a cool music vid!!)
hmmm and i'd love to work with Mos Def but his charisma will probably kill me on a track
