Micron / Balanced Synth (Need help Tony !)

Hey,

I'm about to get a Micron keyboard, and since the outputs are balanced I was wondering: What is the best way and type of cables used to plug a balanced keyboard to pro-tools ?
I assume there's no need for a D.I isn't it ?

Please let me know

ps: the studio where i'm tracking owns a lot of D.I., Neve and API pre-amps, and a nice AMS console.

What up Diesel?

Technically you don't need to use a DI.. But, I would run it through the Neve's or API's to add some character. Especially if they're already there.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

In that case, I would use a standard TS unbalanced 1/4" cable and hit the DI with that, then XLR-XLR to the Neve's, etc.

Or, you could run line in to the preamps using a TRS - XLR (male) cable.

I would try both ways and see which one sounds better to you.
