I second the Miroslav stuff, I have the VST and I love it. Also love Stylus and although Im not immediately thrilled with sampletank most of the time, it ends up being really useful after some coaxing. Price is right too.

rompler? normally can't stand them but the old K2000s and the JD990's work.

1.)
Korg Legacy Series. The MS-20 is amazing and the controller is the answer to having to not look at a computer screen while you're playing. It is absolutly the best sounding "analog" synth plug in I've ever used.

2.)
Stylus RMX. (With my vinyl breaks Recycled into it.) The filters on that thing sound really nice and the built in FX are top notch. Spectrasonics did a fantastic job with that drum machine.

Rob Papen's Albino and Blue are easily the best sounding soft synths for my money.
Stylus RMX has totally changed the way I write breakbeat.

In hardware-land - JP8000 - K2000 - JD990 - SY77 and Nord 2 get used daily.

all the spectrasonic stuff is must have, especially trilogy. I have been into the BFD drum module. So versatile for live drum sounds.

I didnt even think of BFD as a soft synth...but it is. That is my favorite. I don't use it as much for Hip Hop though..BUT, I am sure some sick breaks can be made..IGotSoul, how are you using BFD in your beats?

I have the B4 and love it, as well as the Garritan orchestral suite, which gets a lot of use.

How does the Korg Legacy compare to the synths that come with Reason?

The Korg Legacy Series Kills in the analog emulation. I dig the subtractor but it's filter can get a bit nasel-ey. Not that Thats a bad thing per se. The filters on the polysix and ms20 are extremely robust sounding. When I hear the filters in reason, they don't sound like they have mass to them. Korg does. Thats what sticks out the most to me.

Yeah I like the Korg synths much better than the Reason ones. Someone else said the Arp 2006 by way out wear, with out a doubt one of the best sounding softsynth I've heard although its a real CPU hog.

RA's really good, theres been a lot of group buys for all the QL stuff recently.

Really didn't like any of the NI Romplers, theres much better alternatives I think.

For people who are using Stylus RMX, whats it like at using your own samples? I've been put off by it because I don't wanna use the shit it comes with?

Hey Cassanova,

It's a pretty easy import of rex files. I just make my own loops, recycle em, and import them in. Its fun to turn it out with all the features inside stylus. I may never use Dr Rex again.

Well a while back i was trying to get the Muse research Rceptor, going with some Vsti and said screw that mess. So i put together my own small rack unit with rack mount Pc/mega comp to just run Vsti and other plugins and what not it is working out so very nicely in the studio and i have to say top plugs and synths to use right now are...

Rapture (very impresive)
Fm 7 (Native instrument)
Pro 52 (Nativie Instruments)
all the autria mogg mods/
and Kontakt sampler
couple of more but this is what i have been rockin on the past couple projects
