Attention ALL Serious MPC 2500-4000 users!!! i got the mpc 2500 over the weekend and i'm prettty pleased with it. Thanks to everybody on this forum who spoke highly of it. I have one question tho...as you may know, the 2500 has a built in cd player that allows you to sample directly from cd. I havent seen any control to raise or lower the level of the cd's signal. seeing as how many of todays cds are too hot, wouldn't sampling straight from them cause the samples to be distorted???

I cant say this for sure 'cause I dont have one but if you cant control the volume, it's probably a digital transfer which means it wont go past 0db. So you should be fine.

use the shift key and the sliders (on 2000xl) or highlight numbers and hit shift + cursor to change the increments value. p.s. read manual! It's alot faster than this forum.

if you mean for searching through sample banks.......I just spend it fast...LOL. But I also have the my sounds organized in folders ex: Motif, Triton, AKAI. with subfolders inside them. for my finished tracks, I created another separate folder. with the project folders inside that. I love that you can connect the 2500 to a computer and drag & drop, create/delete, move, copy & paste folders just like and other folder on a computer. very easy. I have like 10gb of sounds on the 60gb harddrive. Ram max'ed. out too. for sample editing....just use the shift + arrow to change the number value of the start & end points...then turn the wheel.........or press the AFTER button and adjust the fader.(middle finger on the after button, first finger & thumb on the fader) I still like keyboards better as the total package. I'm just used to playing everything vs sampling stuff. But I love what I can do when programming drums.
