Roland V-Synth, anyone using this for studio work? Hey all, I own the motif rack es and Mpc 2000xl but have been thinking of buying a Roland V-Synth for added sounds from Roland and also the vocal designer card that is available for it. The vocoder is a cool ass feature that could really come in handy for certain things. I dont see assignable outs, only L&R, so Im wondering would this be more of a pain to have in the studio or an asset. I have a producer I work with and this purchase would be more for him then me. I sequence in PT also not that it makes much of a difference. If anyone is using this synth for studio work, let me know what your take on it is. Worth it? not worth it or go for a workstation?

While I havent spent much time with it, the V-Synth is a killer piece if you plan on really diggin in and using more than the proloaded sounds. As a Motif fan and now the Motif ES I have been looking to get something else for studio tracks and I think I might end up going with the Fantom X. A lot of good sounds out of the box even though alot of them are rehashed Roland sounds from other gear. It's just a good all around board. Dont get me wrong, the V-Synth is sick but plan on puttin some time into it

i have the V-synth Xt rackmodule and i am quite happy with it. The vocoder is pretty cool and so is the D-50 emulation for those classic 80s sounds. I use the actual V-Synth section mostly for mangling up samples.Changing the melody of a vocalphrase in realtime from a keyboard is a very unique experience and a great tool for finding harmony parts. I have the unit hooked up to my DAW thru SPDIF. Since the polyphony is rather limited i never feel tempted to use the multimode anyway, so theres no need for me to use any separate outs.

Thanks for the Reply fellas. The vocoder is what really got me with this synth, and being able too add some Roland drums to the Motif sounds, now I think Im going to hold off and do some more research. A roland workstation might be a better option but how can I get that vocoder? I have heard the korg micro vocoder and was not impressed. The roland vocoder is the one to have.
