Just wana see some custom things you guys might have done to your gear. doesnt matter what it is. can be an apple sticker or a full paint job. or a card reader install on an mpc/asr/mv8000/triton/fantom/etc. any type of mod!

The mods done to my gear aren't cosmetic, so they just look like the regular gear.

But, I have an exciter where I swapped out the opamps and tubes. And I have Drawmer 1968 with the caps re-sizzed, a switch installed that takes out the diodes in the compression path, and different tubes. Although I'm 50/50 on whether I like the new tubes or original tubes.

You will find that many of the producers that make the best, dont care as much about pimping out gear. Think about some of the legendary cats of yesterday and today. Very few have cosmetically modded gear.

I have a MPC 2500 LE with a black case and the XLCD screen but, that was because there is a ding in original case lol. XLCD screen is for function, not style. I often think I should get my Emaxes painted, since they look like absolute crap. They still get the job done though....

Im about to resurface a couple of Ikea Jerker desks with Oak instead of particle board. Does that count? I want to be able to put a sliding keyboard drawer underneath and need real wood for support.

It looks like the Maschine pads are no longer translucent. I thought about modifying my MK1 but I like that feature.

thats halfway true. and thats totally fine. if they didnt do anything i guess they have nothing to show. but if they did, and there are more plenty of them, then lets see them!

I open pretty much all gear I buy just to ... quality inspect it the only one I didn't open up has been the Burl B2.... the great river mp2nv is pretty inside =D

I was gonna pimp my mpc - only got around to replacing floppy with a CF reader - no pics though. I bought a black skin for it and was gonna chrome it out.
completely modded a Urei 535 eq which I have pics of at home - installed XLR jacks on the back and replaced the opamps with sockets and put high end opamps in it. recapped with higher specd too. dropped the noise floor by almost 30db.
opened up the digitech studio 400 - all SMD - nothing I can do there :( could replace the opamps but have no experience with SMD circuits
bought a urei 562 that I was gonna mod - but then realized its not an EQ! no wonder they're so cheap lol. it only cuts, can't boost - but does have a HPF and LPF. was considering converting the circuit to be able to boost too, but haven't got around to it yet.
bought an 'already modded' symetrix comp - with upgraded opamps. sounds good enough for $110 that I bought another - will have to upgrade those myself though (need to match for stereo operation!) but they're already socketed, so its not really a challenge

sometimes I think playing with electronics is more fun than making music!

I find it funny that the Urei 555 go for 200-300$ and are just a LPF HPF while you can get the 562 for 120 ...

The 535 also has some of its own character. Same output transformers as some of the 1176's too (Rev H and Rev K actually).

Now I'm looking for an SDD 2000 and a S950

I have a small bunch of custom guitars, no stickers, just paint jobs and hardware replacements, custom fretboards etc. Kinda boring. Functional though.. that's the goal.

I changed the datawheel of my 950 for practical reason (didn't like the original size) but then I realize that I also like the disign of this knob (its the volumeknob of an old stereo I didn't use anymore) more than the original

This one is s practical mod too. Since the TX16W sampler doesnt have a fader or knob to adjust settings I added this box with 2 potentiometers on the side of my MPC. The potis are connected to the FootPedal input of my Casio FZ1 which is connected to the MPC via MIDI and the MPC MIDI out goes to the TX16W. I also set up some pads of the MPC pad bank D to control +/- left/right and ENTER on the TX16W. I can control nearly everything on the TX without touching it

peace

I only use the possibilities the programmer of the Typhoon OS (alternative TX16W OS) gave to the people. I probably said it before but I will say it again: The Typhoon OS is a MASTERPIECE. They (NuEdge Development - Typhoon 2000) took a piece of hardware with a horrible frustrating OS and turn it to a monster with IMO the most intelligent userfriendly OS structure that is possible with this piece of hardware.

peace

ohhhhh yeah!
I have a cheap electric I got at walmart a LONG time ago for $120 (when I was poor as hell...) - so I tried sanding it down and repainting it and replacing the electronics. I was going to convert it to an active output but never did - but I *did* give it stereo output (with a send/return cable you can get output from 2 combos of pickups at once). It actually sounds kinda cool - gives a strange phased sound using certain combos.
I'm not a carpenter though .... the paint job turned out horrible
Made it dark blue with a layer of that really shiny metallic sparkle stuff (I actually wanted to paint it with this -http://www.duplicolor.com/products/mirage/ - but couldn't find it anywhere) - but it ended up all running and getting clumpy and I gave up at my attempts to paint something - I'll stick to electronics from now on
