Answering that is like opening Pandora's box. But what I will say is I own Komplete 8, Reason, Most of the Ik Multimedia VI(Sampletank, Miroslav, Sonik Synth, etc.), Sylenth, Maschine, and recently a Fantom X6 which I sold to buy a Fantom Xr because less space is needed compared to the keyboard version which I love. Plus I own other VIs and all I can say is that nothing I own sounds like the Virus TI Snow. Yeah you can tweak them to get close but its not the same, sorta like a Sony C800G and clones. The Virus has that instant purchase assurance when you turn it on. Every patch sounds like you can use it in a great song. It makes you want to create. I felt 8 again when I played my first patch. As for the knobs they work great and I also wanted it small to take on the go. There are great VIs like Zebra, Nexus 2 and Sylenth out there but I feel that hardware synths allow for better hands on control and resale value. Hope this helps.
