Ok my memory is fading lol.Thought there might be a solution.I got the eps sometime after the asrx and i found it to be a deep sophisticated sampler even comparatively to the x.My thoughts are that most people dont get even 20% into these machines(all ensoniqs). So many parameters.

Damn, you said EPS. That was my first sampler. You make me want to pick one up for old times sake. They are so cheap now. When I had mine I didn't know you could chop on it, I was a noob. Yeah for the music I make I never have a need for all the feature.

Worse than a 10 with 3.53 OS. Internal sequencer is tight, but you'd have to deal with its huge limitations. And as previously said, it glitches when you do anything else on the machine after hitting play.

By far my fav sounding sampler, but it's still a disaster.

@szf

How would you compare the asr timing loaded with 1.61 OS and the eps-16 one?

Also one of my favs.. it's faults p*ss me off... but the sound just makes you forgive it.
It's like a girlfriend with a few really annoying tendencies... but a good heart.. need to find one of those when I'm done with samplers.

Haven't tested side by side..... but my feeling is the eps16 with newest os was still tighter than the asr on drums triggered via midi.. regardless of os.
....That doesn't mean it's akai tight though (Someone tested the s3000 and found the midi jitter was 2 samples!) ....

the only non akai sampler that I've found that felt ultra tight via midi triggering is the sp12 ... but thats just my feeling... no tests done.. just some of the songs in my sig that where done like that to offer as proof.

....Anyway I'll test the eps16 and eps again soon for midi drum triggering.. and report back here. (maybe I'll measure the jitter too)

Not surprised. Everybody needs an akai, I've learned that the hard way.

Let us know.

I'm happy enough with the asr for drums triggering, and in case of heavy sequences, there's still the possibility to synch the internal sequencer. But if there is some real gain by using the eps-16 instead...

As I said earlier for me it's all about the ASR-10 for drums about 80% of the time...

For the other 20% - And just in general...

Your quote above quite true =)

(Sorry for "Chopping" up your quote... The context, may have shifted, but I think the intention is still intact.)

Cheers,
Alexa
