Mixing to get Crispy Vocals?

First off here is the raw clip : Download edwinCALLE-RAW-SAM-ROSEE.mp3 from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

I need a lesson mixing rap Vocals. I have attached a raw clip above. Maybe someone can take a listen and tell me what I can do in pro tools to get the vocals as mixable and crispy as possible.

I know vocals need reverb, compression - ETC.... Could you recommend an alternative to WAVES? I used that in the past, but could not come across a "USED" one for MAC OSX (If you know what I mean)

MIC: AKG C214
INTERFACE: DUET 2
DAW: PRO TOOLS

I'd cut out some low-mids (150-300hz) and compress with an 1176 type compressor. They used to include one in PT, not sure if they still do. I'd use a a slow attack (3?) fastest release (7) and ratio of 4 or 8 to 1. Gain reduction to taste, but normally at least 10db.
If they arent crispy enough, add another compressor (i normally use an ssl Gseries) and take another db or two off with similar settings.

I was gunna drop your track into my daw and compress them with my outboard, cause im a nice ****ing guy ;-) but you only included a few seconds.

If you have a deep voice, high pass @ 125 Hz... Boost there as well to give your self more umph (but not too much). Cut small around 200-350 with a peak curve.

you want the crispy sound, Boost at 4k and 8k, Compress and don't forget to De-Ess. Boosting at 8K will cause your "Esss" & your "SHHH" to pierce the hell out of you ears at high volumes.

Funny story though that I mention it, was riding with my friend and he had the volume turned up so damn loud, and everytime an MC would run into an Ess or Shhh I would cringe. He looks at me and is like "dude, wtf is wrong with you why do you keep cringing"

I simply told him to turn the damn treble down!!!

Don't be that MC that makes the listener turn the treble down.

Or, deep fry for about 10 minutes. Pull em' out, let em' cool. Then deep fry again for about 5 minutes. Crispy chicken vocals.
