This isn't school there are no teachers just a place full of adults congregate online with a handful keeping the wheel rolling while some feel entitled to this service.

honestly, i think its pretty ridiculous that the maschine and ren have been banned from being discussed. its a handful of people that argue and drive the threads into the ground, not everyone. there is still alot of informative and constructive stuff that can be discussed (or shown on video) regarding both products (or any product for the video matter).
what if someone posts a video about the workflow on either of these products? isnt that something that this site is made for? what happened to sharing tips and workflows and discussing exciting new (and old for that matter) audio gear?
cant we just be more adamant about reporting/deleting any spam or useless arguing? can the topics not be cleaned up or locked on a thread by thread basis?
i just clicked on a thread about "maschine v1 vs. mashicne mk2", (which i was very interested in people opinions about), but now that there is a ban on that particular product, the thread got locked.
furthermore, instead of helpful replies in that particular thread, the new rules seem to have actually been counter productive and even instigated string of useless/unhelpful free posts regarding "when will the thread will be locked?"
some people went so far as to mention the ren in that thread just to ruffle feathers and because they knew the thread would be locked promptly.
if the gs community could use this forum like adults, then when someone sees something wrong and reports it, the riff-raff will eventually weed itself out.
to take away constructive discussion about audio gear in a forum about audio gear is very counter productive and is a disservice the gs community in my opinion.
im not trying to have this be a personal blow or anything like that, quite the contrary, i think you have done a great job of keeping everything in check, but these measures are very extreme and its something that i felt the need to express.
imo, having two mega threads for both respective products is going to get very messy and hard to read after it grows.
when the thread gets bigger than a few pages, all the replies and questions will get covered by so many other replies or questions that it will be hard to find any information on.
for example, say someone asks a question on page 15, then overnight the thread grows 10 pages. the next day the user logs on to find the thread grown, now one of three things will most likely happen happen:
1.the original question will get ignored or lost in the mix because everyone else is discussing someone elses question or other aspects of the product in those 10 pages.
2. the the answer will get buried somewhere between those 10 pages and will take forever to find.
3. if the op is lucky, someone will answer the question in a timely manner and will find the answer to his/her question in the next few posts.
maybe what this forum needs is another moderator so all the weight isnt on your shoulders all the time.
if there were another trusted moderator that would be up to the duties, maybe you wouldent have had to take such drastic measures in banning constructive discussions and videos.
i really hope you reconsider this in the next few weeks.
thanks tony

thanks tony | Again the problem is not so much the topic, there was undoubtedly good advice going on in some of the threads that was helpful to persons. However the problem is that while the thread starts out with the best of intentions it most of the time ends up going in the completely wrong direction. It more often than not ends up being about whomever can insult whom the best. The thread then gets scrapped for all intents and purposes and it continues like that which ends up turning what was a valuable thread into a 15 or 20 page rant between various individuals with or without vested interests and the thread contains maybe 10 or 15% valuable information.
While another moderator could be of help it doesn't take away from the fact that the thread largely turns out to be useless. So even if the replies with bad intent are removed the thread still for the most part was useless.
A temporary ban will teach persons to be more sensible about what they post. The moderator would more or less have to babysit the forum members as opposed to merely trimming the hedges of what should be an intellectual or at the very least a constructive discussion. So long story short he more or less had to temporary block the topic since any type of leniency was out of the question.

I really wish the collaboration threads wouldn't of been banned..the whole "community collaborations" didn't work out one bit. I would like to be able to be able to freely have open collaborations thru the forums :/

| There is already more than one moderator. We have multiple moderators who help take care of the mess. Everyone assumes that when someone is banned or a thread is deleted it's me, but it just as likely could have been one of the admin mods (they are not posting members).
We are all alerted by the "Report Post" function. People need to continue to use this function and contribute to keeping things in check.
Also... You have no idea the drama that those threads created, and the sheer volume of posts. Having them all in one thread will make it a more feasible job to keep up with. I can only read a small portion of the posts on here. I have a life outside of the internet and a business to run. I refuse to babysit ever post on the forum.. because at that point... it will be future producers. And, we already have one site dedicated of that... we don't ned two.
