Dropped one of my KRK Rokit 8's...

Hi, I just dropped one of my monitors from about 4 feet high. If you are familiar with these speakers, they have a portion at the bottom front where it's open for air travel. The sides of the opening are cracked.

Do you think there has been any damage to the monitor to the point where it will affect my mixes, granted they work? I cannot test them yet because I'm moving everything around trying to install acoustic panels. Hopefully I didn't trade room treatment for speakers lol.

Open it up and have a look. It's possible that something could have been knocked around and will cause issues later. These are powered electronics.. I wouldn't be taking any chances. Crack it open take a look.

Tell me about it, I was moving a broadband absorber in my lab and knocked my old Moog Slim Phatty off a 1.2 meter shelf on to hardwood floor

Still worked..... flawlessly

I guess I wasn't so lucky...

The speaker I dropped sounds has a higher tune than the left one. I tested it on claps and hi hats so far. There is a night and day difference. The left speaker sounds duller than the right. I made sure the knobs on the back were at the same points and I even messed around to try to make them sound the same, but I can't. Now, I don't even know if dropping it did this or which one doesn't sound right. Ebay time. I wanna shoot myself.

Ah, not good.

Yeah, may have knocked a baffle out of place. Open her up, cross your fingers

I had one of my 5.1 monitors vibrate off the desk,
Usually if it does not break the cone and the driver then its ok.

If perhaps a fluke the wire might have came off.

USPS does way more harder bumps.

I'm not sure what a baffle is, but I opened it and everything is solid in there. The magnets are in place in a wooden frame that fits the entire interior of the speaker so that there isn't any motion. So I highly doubt anything moved. But still... one speaker is tuned higher than the other. It's so bad it makes a mono sound, sound stereo.

Nope. I've had them since 2007, so I doubt it. That's a good idea to talk to a KRK tech, I'll try to talk to someone there tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

Wow. Just tested them same thing. So I tested the interface by switching cables, same thing. My last conclusion that I'm working on correcting is that it's the french doors on my right or something structural. I put up a sound panel on my right side where the sound was sharper and now it seems that the sound is a little more like the sound coming from the left speaker. I don't have any sound absorbers on the left wall (dry wall). It's crazy much of a difference sound panels really make.

F8CK my life. It is the interface. The left main output is brighter than the right. ****ing Digidesign assholes. Always knew they were a POS company, now it's just confirmed. Another workaround I have to spend thousands on to fix. It's a ****ing shame these assholes can't even offer identical outputs. I've been using this console for years and it probably has been messing with my mixes for years.

So now... I don't even know what to do. I'm so ****ing depressed. I just bought speakers I don't even need cause I thought they were the issue. All along it's been my stupid digidesign mixer. I know about black lion but I don't know if they'll replace the main outs or if they even work on 003 mixers. And I don't even know if what they do will even make a difference. I'm just so over this shit man. How much money I spent on pro tools and their stupid products, never again. I'm sick of this company. Had to buy FXpansion VST to RTAS for 300 dollars had to pay 500 for the upgrade from 8 to 10, which really didn't upgrade shit and it was a ****ing SCAM. Now I'm stuck with a piece of crap program with a piece of crap hardware and thousands of my dollars in Avid/digidesign/crooks pockets. **** you full sail for putting me on this bs rollercoaster that goes in circles and the wheels don't even spin right. Should have went cubase or logic and would have been better off.
