I think Jimmy Douglass had more to do with Timbos sound in the late 90's - 2000's than people give him credit for.

I didn't want to be negative or sway anyones opinion but I'm not feeling thy first track at all either.
That's something I wouldn't have even put the time in to finish.

Fair call and I agree, could still work as maybe an intro or transition 30 sec track sort of thing.. thats what I initially thought it was, but it went on...

Good call on Jimmy Douglas too. Would love to be good enough to make 'The Hang' ... that and similar opportunity's are secretly why I'm taking on mixing work and trying to step my game up....a lot

On a more positive note, the 2nd beat bangs! Sounds like classic Tim to me. I wish he would pull out his ASR/Triton combo again!
I feel you, I thought the same thing. No doubt Missy influenced Nicki but Missy still sounds a little Nicki-ish on those tracks. Just because Missy might have influenced Nicki doesn't mean that she can't be influenced by Nicki. Musically though, specially on Timbo's production side of things, their old ish is doper but it's good to see them back at it together.

Anyone being honest with themselves will think along these lines. The first track did not move me whatsoever. Missy's flow and lyrical content on it didn't bring anything great to the table, and the beat was questionable at best. As soon as the second track started to play though, it had my full attention from start to finish.

The first track was definitely a little too "try hard" sounding.

She sounded nothing like Nicki. To me her flow on those tracks sounded modern and generic, which I can't exactly blame her for because those beats weren't going to help capture her classic style anyway. Regardless, I liked her approach on the second track better, even if it wasn't exactly what I was expecting to hear.

Take away the production behind a few of today's most recent breakout artists, and you will notice how similar some artists sound to one another, without their different lyrical content taken into consideration.

first song is annoying as fkkk... second beat has that timbo edge yet it doesn't really fit missy, too epic. i don't see either getting played at the club, which is what missy+timbo usually equates. overall strange come back strategy
