Bass problems due to untreated rooms

I'm making a sub bass patch on my Slim Phatty and there are certain notes that are noticeably louder than other notes. This is due to my room right? When translated to a proper system, it wouldn't sound like this right?

Not necessarily. There are certain bass notes that windows and walls react to that they vibrate violently.

I know exactly what you are talking about bro. And it is so annoying. A lot of people mention treating my room, but Im living with my parents and all, im not trying to do all that. So i just mix bass, or low frequencies with my headphones, have you tried that yet?

Not necessarily at all. Depending on your filter usage, you may be resonating a frequency that is more predominant in certain notes which in turn is hyping those notes' fundamentals.

Id say watch your filters. You are probably emphasizing too much or you have your cutoff in the wrong spot.

Be careful with bass patches working on them too long with fatigue your ears and cause this to happen.

Its you room definitely, I have same problem with sub bass on E note, and F, on F isn't that much of a problem like on E, I have headache with the E, like 3db louder or higher.
So you need good headphones to see what is really going on, with particular notes.

Check your meters to see whether or not it's louder...

Check your velocity too....

And then try your mix in another room/car...headphones are also good for checking this out, although it depends of their frequency response. I found Beyerdynamics DT 770 to be good.

Its the nature of the beast with small, untreated rooms but everyone does the best with what they have.

I try and work around my issue with reference mixes and the good old car test.
