I've said this before, I'll say it again.......

Ya'll might be too young to remember these albums, but go back and listen to Whodini - Escape. Listen to "Friends". All the Zomba albums were recorded in England if I'm remembering correctly.

What's that guys name....Larry Smith? Produced all of the best early stuff, don't know who recorded it.

That album has so many hidden samples, etc... If you listen to Real N****z Don't Die, there is so many little sounds like karate chops and other things hidden in the mix, it's crazy.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Can't believe Games record wasn't mentioned yet. To me thats a great sonicly sounding record...except for the 2 Just Blaze joints where there is almost NO snare/clap heard at all! I also give another vote for the Chronic 2001. The Latest Geto Boyz sound amazing too!!

Also, does anyone know who mastered the new Busta record? I know Brian Gardner usually does all the Aftermath camp, but I saw no mastering names in the credits. It didn't sound like he did it either. Although most of Dre's mix's sound more dirty than they usually do too. Maybe they were trying to keep that gridy N.Y. sound huh?

The best entire performance, production, and engineering for a rap or hip hop album of all time is Tupac - R U Still Down. Ive never been able to stop playing it. Not a rap fan, Im more into reggae.

It's like decyphering a really good, dense Bomb Squad mix

ref cd for hip-hop

I can usually find something on Pac's 'all eyes on me' double cd that can serve a reference to most of todays rap production styles. The cd sounds extremely consistant even though it had many different producers, many different vocalist/singers, samples, and live instruments. I usually skip through a few tracks in any new room before I track or mix to 'feel-out' the monitors/room.

Shoooooot

Them young boys don't know about that N@#$A 4 life album.
Tell you how dope the mix on that album is,I put the commercial break from 100 miles and running ep
track on my,myspace page, along with scarface money and the power and
RedMan's rated R.Now everybody knows myspace
mp3 player is bullshit sounding right? The commercial break record
never lost it's sound quality even on that player compared to the other records,
that sounded shitty from the get.
HAIL MIGHTY D.R and all the engineers who worked on that album.

No Doubt. Like Water... definitly has a unique sound. All the kiks/snares are in your face and the basslines have a great amount of low end without being muddy. I love 'The Questions' that kick is what hip-hop is about.

Jodeci - The show, the afterparty, the hotel- My favorite joint by them for the production. The album plays like a movie how that was put together. Perfect execution on the mix and mastering.
